Well, we're not sure about death by lack of sleep...

you must have had some sleep during these four months, even if you're not aware of it. you won't die without sleep, but you'll go bonkers. after about two or three days without any sleep, you'll start falling asleep for seconds at a time and will thus have black-outs, after a day more you'll start hallucinating. if you're not experiencing any of these symptoms you must have slept.

no, they will hallucinate, but ultimately if they don't hurt themselves they will pass out. Our bodies are amazing at taking care of us.
