killing yourself because you can't handle what god gave you sends you to hell, killing yourself so someone else can live is like being an angel instant access to heaven it is a selfless act, suicide is selfish and all about you.

I wouldn't say a person necessarily goes to hell for committing suicide. By "suicide," I assume you mean killing oneself for the purpose of escaping the suffering in this world. This is not a good idea because the person is essentially "disrupting" God's plan for her life. So the person will end up going to the next world without achieving the goals she might have achieved during this life. She'll most likely be held accountable for the taking of her own life, and she'll probably wish she hadn't done it, but all religions say that God is merciful as well as just, so I would think He would show mercy to the person.
Sacrificing oneself to save others, I'd say, is different from suicide. Here, a person isn't trying to escape the suffering of this world, but she's willingly laying down her life to save others. That's a noble deed, so I would think that God would reward such a person in the next life.
I think the best thing we can do for souls in the next life, regardless of how they died, is to pray for them and for their spiritual progress in the next world.

Typically the person who commits suicide is living in a perceived hell that they are trying to escape. That part of us that lingers on retains the patterns of thinking and emotion thus hell is born in the afterlife. Those who die through saving others have their minds in a totally different place, one of altruistic intention. Therefore what they expereince after their death will be a refelction of the joy and goodness they had in their heart before their death.

I know there is a quote from the Bible that Jesus said- I can't find it this morning so I will paraphrase it - " There is no greater love than for a man to lay down his life for his friends." my heart goes out to anyone who wants to commit suicide. People who want to do that are in a tremendous amount of pain. This is a good question for a priest or someone who has really studied scripture. To me your not in your right mind because of the pain. If you have accepted Christ as your savior then I think that counts for alot. Peace.

If you die without Christ you go to hell, if you commit suicide but you are in Christ I don't believe you go to hell.
At one time I would have said a Christian would not commit suicide or you could not be sure you were a Christian if you wanted to commit suicide.
I think now that anyone including Christians can get deeply depressed and not ask Jesus for help, this can go on for a long enough time to where you may wish to commit suicide.
It would be much better to give over your troubles to God and have them taken care of.
I think Catholics believe differently but that what I believe, any one who has been saved will be with Jesus when they die.

To begin with I don't think all suicides automatically go to hell. I have never heard of a suicide where the person wasn't under some kind of sever mental distress.
It depends on whether the person was a Christian and committed a sin like every single one of us do. Even Jesus in a way committed suicide. I cannot possibly see God punishing those who sacrificed themselves in the way you have stated.

If you kill your self you do go to hell- if you sacrafice yourself for someone else than you dont go to hell. But if you are a terrorist and sacrafice yourself you go to hell because you are evil. If you go to war wishing that someone could kill you and you die; you go to hell. I think its whats in your heart that matters.

Offering your life to save others is not normally thought of as suicide. Normally, one in such a situation knows they might die, but does not want to. Even if they know they probably WILL die, that's only incidental to the main goal - saving others. I don't believe all the veterans who died on D-Day are in hell.
Those who kill themselves in the process of, and with the main goal of, killing masses of innocent cilivians in defense of nothing but their own hatred would, I think, have a particularly gruesome hell waiting for them.
Good question! I'm sure a theologan will do it justice.

Its the intention that counts ........ if u attend to commit suicide, out of hopelessness (like unemployment, got dumped by girl-friend etc. etc.) of life then it is a Sin ........... but if u commit suicide intending to save the life of others (like some armed homocidal maniac enters ur house and want to kill ur loved ones, and u being unarmed fight for ur family without concern of ur ownself) then it is a Noble Cause and is NOT a sin.

No it would be like a act of love.. Jesus said there is no greater love, then for a man to lay down his life.. If you commit suicide, that dosen't necesarily mean your going to hell, as long as you have the blood of Jesus, you are saved.
