Everyone wants attention, some people have learned that the only way to get enough attention is to be mean. Others will take out there problems on anyone, including a stranger just to make themselves feel a little better...it doesn't always have to "...roll down hill"
Don't upset them more by giving them a reason to single you out.
I always try to "kill them with kindness" - I am in the collections business - I get a lot of mean people to deal with during my days.
If you want to avoid arguing with them, simply take there side and listen before you say a word. Its hard to reason with someone if you don't know their perspective.
If someone wants to start a fight, just walk away. There are no winners in a street fight.

Ignoring works but you must be firm about it and not cave in giving them attention of any kind. Once you give them attention it feeds the monster. Be warned that in some cases ignorning can make the person meaner and things might get worse. Just keep ignoring......usually they do give up and go away. If it's a serious issues call the cops on em.....you never know what's going on in someone's mind so don't take chances. Be careful with people like that.

The best way to deal with mean people is to laugh at them when the are being mean to you. When they see that they can't make you cry or get upset they will leave you alone. Keep in mind that bullies and mean people have had a sad life so sad that they try to make others look worse than them to make them selves feel good.

The best way to deal with a mean person is stay away from them. You can love someone and still keep your distance. They will soon come to realize that something is wrong and come to you ask what. Then explain to them in a very calm way how you feel about their actions. Good luck

This falls squarely in the area of "don't fool with fools." Ignore them. Their meanness only serves to illustrate their own shortcomings.
In the long run, figure out how to eliminate them from your life.

Don't ever argue with bullies. If you can't avoid them, don't show that you're afraid or intimidated by them. They love it when they see you put your tail between your legs.
Make friends with big guys. Best of all, just be generally friendly.

Kill em with kindness! Don't react that is what they want. If you are a christian, pray about it. It worked for me.in dealing with someone I used to work with. We eventually became friends.

Give them a piece of your mind. Or behave to them as the same way they behave to you.
