Depends on what you have space for.
I persobnally think go big - go for a "32/34"/44" TV and have it mounted on your wall.

Small one:
1. Because you are only here for two years.
2. Becasue all the TV in the UK is sh*t so its not like you even NEED a TV.
3. Because when you do leave the country and you've blown £1500 on a plasma - what if you cant sell it on - then what? £1500 lost???
4. Because a large tv would be pointless. The novelty would soon wear off, and there is NOTHING big or statemental about a sh*tty plasma in the first place.
5. Because plasma TV's are sh*te anyway. They need re-gassing every seven years, only hold a sharp, vibrant picture for a few years + static images can be permanently "burnt" onto the screen. Which isnt good. The only plus to a plasma is a) you can get ridiculous size screens and b) because LCD is far superior, plasma (the primitive technology of yesterday) is now becoming more affordable.
6. I wouldnt even bother buying a TV.
7. I would just buy a standard 14-21" CRT TV (your normal box television), cos you can get them for between £40-80 and assuming you need to leave the country and you can't sell it on, you've made a tiny loss. So it wouldnt matter.

if i was you i would not even bother with a plasma i have just got rid of my 42inch and had a 40 inch sony bravia lcd and it is sooooo much better and you will find that your lcd will last a lot longer than a plasma, with a plasma if you pause anything for to long it will burn your screen it does go after a while but you can see it if you are watching something on your tv, you will be alot better off with an lcd and they are so much cheaper and will use less of electric hope this has been some help to you happy shopping.

plasmas way too expensive a the moment
if you hurry tescos have got a tv for 200 pounds - its about 18 inches - its not flat screen plasma but good quality
if you're not gonna live here long, its not not worth spending 700 - 1000 pounds in getting a plasma tv !

At the moment, You will have to pay a lot for a plasma screen, before it exceds the definition of a Tube screen. That will change in the future, but, at the moment, consider a tube screen before a plasma screen.
Size is a personal choice. I prefer a medium/big one :-)

Have you tried moving one of the big screens? What a pain. And the stress about once its in the truck, is it going to get scratched, etc. almost isn't worth it.
Personally I would go with a smaller TV until you find a permanent home, one that you will stay in for quite some time, before you make your big purchase.

If you can afford it, definately LCD. Plasma burns out quicker and also burns images on the screen. Projection tv's are pretty good too if you want a big screen for your buck.

I've just bought a Samsung 21'' LCD tv..perfect size for the bedroom also comes with it's own table top stand which you can also affix to a wall. Argos are doing them for 249 pounds but I reckon as we approach Xmas the price will drop..

Plasma will use a lot more power than a normal TV... only go for it if you can afford the electricity bill!!!
