Questions and Answers on the Green Card Lottery

The Department of State annually holds the Diversity Visa program (also known as the Green Card Lottery) where 50,000 green cards are awarded by random computer selection. The next lottery will be the DV-2007 lottery and the entry period will begin in October 2005. As a service to readers of our web site, we are pleased to make available our Lottery FAQ - a detailed question and answer document that provides all of the information needed to enter the lottery. We believe that most people will find that if they are diligent about complying with the rules and have reasonable English skills, they can enter the lottery without further assistance than what we are providing here.

As an additional service to our readers, we are also providing an online registration form, which will enable Siskind Susser to enter a person in the lottery. We believe this service will be of interest to people who do not have the time or the inclination to enter the lottery on their own or are otherwise concerned about whether their application is being submitted properly (an estimated one-third of applications for the lottery are rejected because they are submitted incorrectly). Some people will not be comfortable submitting their application electronically (including photos). And some people also do not know where they will be when winners are selected and wish to use the return address of a law firm that will not be moving.

I looked this up for you.

According to the weblink that dognhorsemom provided, you are ineligible for the Green Card lottery because it lists people from Russia as being unable to apply due to the fact that they´ve sent over 50,000 immigrants to the US in recent years. Your best shot is applying to study abroad in a American university and then once you´re there apply for a work permit. And you don´t automatically become a citizen after residing in the US after 5 years with a Green Card. You have to apply to become a naturalized citizen.

there's a eco-friendly Card lottery, in spite of the reality that i do not recognize no matter if it truly is run each and every 12 months. even if, it truly is loose. The $50 might want to pay for someone that could want to help you fill interior the right varieties and to fill them in wisely, yet i'd not trust all and sundry promoting that service on the internet. it truly is a rip-off. more beneficial effectual to the contact the U. S. State branch. It has a internet web site. Or verify which includes your close by US Embassy.

Yes, of course it really works. I issue DV visas almost every day, and that's just at one US embassy. If you win the lottery, you get an immigrant visa that allows you to live permanently in the US and eventually apply for citizenship, if you want to.

Do not use a middleman, or any of the companies that charge fees. Of the hundreds of DV visas I have issued, not a single applicant used one of them and won.

Here are the instructions. Good luck!!

kat's link is essentially accurate but note that it is a middleman who likely charges a fee. There is a whole immigration agency to help you figure out how to enter.

Try this:http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/index.htm

Also, if you don't win the green card there are student visas but they may limit how much you can work, and are good only while you are a student. This link should help you with that too.
