as they say in the bible, to tempt a person in committing a sin is also a sin, so by having so different standards of living in usa and mexico, the americans are equally responsible. Is so easy to say that there should be more checking and curbing. But americans themselves need so many slaves to do the brown collar jobs at a pittance. Mexicans and other immigrants go for it as even this pittance is more than what they get back in their country. the solution lies in cresting nice and prosperous facilities in Mexico and other latin american country so that the people donot need to run to usa. Believe me its much cheaper to do this, than make fences, putting latest gadgets at the border and hiring more border police. Stop worrying about IRAQ, clean your back alley and back yard first.

Only you can decide if you are wrong or not. At this point it doesn't even matter if your great grand parents were legal or not, it's history. The here and now is what matters. Illegal immigration is a huge problem for our country today, as you say, the proof is in your face. You're dealing with a couple very human elements, compassion and loyalty to your own race. It's understandable that you would have these feelings and a certain bond. However, America is your country and her citizens are your people, and race doesn't fit into these two facts. It's my opinion that if Amnesty is granted and illegal immigration isn't stopped, all of your Mexican people whom are a part of this group will for years and years be frowned upon, and considered criminals by the majority of America, regardless of status. Would this be your wish....to have millions of those you feel this loyalty and compassion for to be shunned and looked down upon, unaccepted by the American people? To gain citizenship through Amnesty does not necessarily remove the criminal label from a person or change the outlook upon them. Their fight and struggle to become citizens won't end with Amnesty, they will continue to fight and struggle for generations to be accepted by the majority of American people. More often than not, doing the right thing is more difficult than doing the wrong thing.

If it weren't for immigration, the only ones here would be Indians running around in deer skin loin cloths, struggling to survive. The vast majority of immigrants came to this country legally. We have reasonable laws in the US, and our government should enforce our laws, even if inconvenient or costly or unappealing. Illegal immigration is a symptom: lack of proper border security is the problem that most people want addressed. You are sympathetic to the plight of the less fortunate and you can identify because of your heritage. My ancestors came from Slovakia. When it was a communist dominated country, I sympathized with the plight of the people. If I could have done something about it, I would have - without breaking any laws.

I have no problem with immigration so long as it is done legally, as many of our predecessors have done. What drives me nuts is immigrants who take advantage of our system, and us providing services in other languages that gives very little incentive for new immigrants to learn English, assimilate into our society, and become Americans. While most of the problems stem from illegal immigration from Latin America, there are also issues with illegal immigrants from other parts of the world.
If you want to live in America and enjoy our wonderful country and be productive part of it, you become American. I think that we need to, immediately, stop offering services in other languages, and stop providing even basic services to illegal (unless when in life danger situation). This problem has gone on for far too long, and I am shocked to hear and read the proposals for giving illegal immigrants a blanket legal status, temporary, or leading to permanent. That is amnesty, and others who came before were not afforded that. In the past, immigrants had to work hard, and go through a long process before become an American. That should remain.

Yes you are wrong. The people you should be marching with are the legal immigrants not the illegal ones. My dad is Mexican too, born in Mexico, and both he and I are AGAINST illegal immigrants. It took him years of blood, sweat and tears to get into the US legally, and these illegals just want to march right in here and get everything handed to them on a silver platter? Get your priorities straight.

I know what you mean I feel like hating them so much but then
sometimes you look at those people working in low income
jobs and you feel sympathy but sometimes you see stolen
American ID's or Drugs and etc and you feel hatred. But the
hatred side has won over me. Im 13 and from India and
now live in the U.S ( legaly of course ) with my dad, mom and
sister. My dad is a computer DBA ( Database Administrater )
and we went through 4 years to get a green card while my
dad does jobs that are usefull like Microsoft instead of Drugs and
Rape ( LOL). Naturally I see it that people from India, China and
other nations who come here legally and want to help this
great country diserve citizenships. By handing them citizenship its kind of like awarding them for coming here illegally. The
thing is that it angers me ( many don't see it my way because
they may be native born ) is that people who come here legally
and work for NASA or Microsoft, Boeing etc have to
suffer 10 years for citizenship while people who break the
law and traffic drugs or rape or steal Id's from Americans
are being given Amnesty. Okay maybe some of them don't
traffic drugs but they still have to steal Id's to survive. I
know what you mean by how your Great Grandparents did
not come here legally. As humans we create our own
problems. Over the years the population increased
and the government wanted to keep track of people who
are coming and going. You know humans like to keep track
of stuff and plus there would be terrorists and of course
there would never be the drug problem if people did not
invent Crack. In the Immigration rallies there was a
hispanic man with a poster that said " Who are you calling
Immigrant pilgrim" and I thought it was funny. There only seems
to be a handfull of countries that owned land since the start
and still have it. Apperantly the Native Americans did
have it but not any more.

I agree with you. I hate all this anger and bitterness towards immigrants. I don't understand why everyone is so upset that some people speak spanish - like would it kill you to hear and maybe even learn a new language? Most people are proud to know multiple languages, but not these 'patriotic' americans!!
I also would not be here if it weren't for immigration - my family came here from Scotland 50 years ago.

The reason it is not hard for a lot of these people to make a judgement call is because they have not been affected personally. By that I mean no one in they're family has been through this, no one they know face-to-face has been affected. I'm not talking money, and economics. I'm emotions. This is not always black and white. Do I know that it causes problems having all these illegals here? Yes. But personal experience tells me that they need a chance too. I'm all for amnesty. I think we need to close the borders and make the immigration process easier so they have the chance to come in legally. But I'm not in charge. My only advice to you is to follow what you believe. IF you believe they deserve that chance then by all means follow it. If you believe that they need to get out, then by all means follow that. But don't get angry when people don't believe the same. Cause its easy to do.

Would you have what you have if your family came to the U.S. illegally?
It is a problem now because the Mexican government actually endorses their citizens to jump the border and get jobs in the U.S. There are classes that are offered in Mexico on how to get into the U.S. and find a job and how to send your money back to Mexico.
As the health care system in the U.S. bankrupts I think a lot of people that are dependant on their HMO's are going to have a change of heart about illegal immigrants.
