The point is why instead of saying parents know and want whats best saying some do but many dont and others are just plain thick and wanting to live in a fluffy bunny world where their kids don't grow up...
ie stating the truth...
Example...
Girl gets pregnant and everyone saying go tell your parents...
Ever occur that the dad may be the father or a relgious nut who will kill the daughter?

Likewise all the parents whos idea of sex ed is second hole from the back sone and use a french letter, be careful , no self abuse or you go blind with hair palms and girls are cursed once a month...
or my litting baby would never drink alcohol, smoke dope or kiss boys... when she is the biggest party animal in town etc

I agree 100% with you and even further. There are NO parents who know best about everything in a childs life. Yes there are the cases of child molestors, kiddie beaters and much worse. But in every household with a child, not just in this country but all over the world, parents will always make mistakes. That is why each and everyone of us grows up with insecurities and problems of our own. It doesn't mean that our parents were bad parents or that we will be bad parents to our children, it just means that nobody is perfect, so nobody knows best. All we can hope for is that parents will try and do their best and their children grow up with the strength to learn from their parent's mistakes and that those who don't do their best and ruin any childs life are caught and suitably punished.

MOST parents want the best for their kids, this is necessary to ensure the survival of the species. In some parents, their own needs come before those of their children, so they put their own interests ahead of the children. This is especially true when the parents are drug abusers. The physical need for the drug is MUCH stronger than the emotional and instinctual need to care properly for their young. Religion can also be a dangerous drug, if taken too far, as it is in many of the examples you cite.
And arranged marriages have been a part of many cultures for a LONG time now. It's only recently that people have had their free pick of mates, and look at what has happened to the divorce rate as a result.

I agree with SUN. Many people in this world should not be parents, but we cannot arrest people for having children.
By the way, the last Magdalene Laundry was officially shut down in the late 80's or early 90's.

Not all parents are like this! You get MANY parents who are excellent at their parental hood and you get a few who just don't care about their children and what happens to them.
Be careful how you blame people because you don't know everybody and how they raise, treat, love, care and help their children. If i may say this for my parents they did a DAMN GOOD JOB of it and I'm sure there are plenty of other children who feel the same!

unfortunatley yes this kind of thing does happen and the parents who allow these things to happen should not be parents. however, this does not account for parents all over the world. there are plenty of good parents with good kids. "parents know best" because they have more experience then their child. but the parents that sell their daughters to pimps for some coins to buy dinner don't deserve the daughters they were given, i agree with you there

As a parent you are still the child of someone, so explaining is not possible.
Bad things happen.
Accept it and chose what to do about it, if you are super human. Otherwise learn to live with the knowledge and try to be a better person as a result.

There's a lot more good parents than bad.
Say something encouraging to the good people.
Don't give all your attention to the few bad ones.

hey hun....usually the parents that say they wont the best for their kids ARE trying to give their kids the best that they can....let's face it if a parent doesn't care then why waste their time and breath stateing such?....yes my mom was an alcoholic when i was growing up but that didn't mean i had to be one...and im not...i DO try and do the best for my little girl....so you can see even those of us that haven't had a perfect child hood can still try and do our best....love daisy

true some people should not have kids, often when they abuse and mistreat they have been abused and mistreated themselves .religion is a funny thing often people get carried away carrying out there interpretations of their religion. my parents were strict but fair, hoping to be the same with my kids, i turned out ok.
