Its not what it would produce, but what it could produce.

From my recollection of Mendelivian Genetics, A & B always express, and O is always recessive. ...or A and B are something and O is the lack of that something.

So if you're AB and your mate is O then your offspring will be either A or B The possiblities are
Ao (the dominant A gene, and recessive o)
Bo (the dominant B gene and the recessive o).

If the child is AB then she's not the offspring of an O parent.

An AB parent and a Type O parent could have A child or B child. There is a very rare condition where the AB parent might have the AB on one gene instead of two and if so this person could have a child of any blood type - but this is extremely rare.
