Common Windows symptom. Really annoying! Try to remove unnessaicary software, defragment your disk, etc.

Hope, Windows Vista are way better that XP or else I'll be using MAC OS.

Specifically, in the Task Manager, go to the Processes tab and click the CPU column to sort by it. When the taskbar freezes, you might see the process that's causing the problem move to the top (or bottom, depending on how it's sorted).

Try what the others said but just to let you know, AVG is one of the worst anti-virus programs out there. You're better off the the free version of Avast! which you can download from their website.

You could simply create a new taskbar by right clicking the current one and choosing New taskbar(or is it Tool Bar?).I believe the settings of your current toolbar were corrupted by the uninstalled software.
Try it.It might work.

open the task manager, and close the unwanted process which are running in the back ground. This may freeze ur task bar. U can also open msconfig (Goto Run, type msconfig) and disable all the unwanted progams to be started up during booting

If that doesn't artwork it rather is a residing abode abode windows explorer difficulty.

Have you installed the latest service packs? My first XP was infuriatingly slow and would freeze during aplications.

Check your start up menu and delete unwanted applications from it. (right click on start, go to start up, programs...)

Good luck
