Child Beauty Pageants Influenced by Murder
JonBenét's murder cast a spotlight on the child beauty pageant world, even though investigators have made no public connection between the murder and the little girl's show biz lifestyle.
Controversy over the appropriateness of little girls participating in beauty pageants has raged ever since the first videos of JonBenét strutting across the stage in risqué costumes began appearing as a regular part of the nightly news.
There are conflicting reports as to how the publicity surrounding JonBenét's death has affected pageant participation: some reports say participation in child beauty pageants has plunged since her death, while others claim it has increased.
Nevertheless, JonBenét has come to symbolize inappropriate sexuality in children. HAS COME TO SYMBOLIZE INAPPROPRIATE SEXUALITY IN CHILDREN. Apart from Sept 11th I cannot think of a sadder and more tragic story than 6-year old JonBenet's. PLease comment on the sentence in capitals

Are we not, at least partly, responsible for that pevert's crime if we allow "beauty" pageants of that sort ? -- Aren't they STUPID pageants ? I mean what is "beautiful" about a 6-year old girl in stiletto shoes showing her legs ? Who can that possibly appeal to ? We can judge a society by what they call "entertainment". I have 4 daughters and a son. My son is 7 and I can assure yuo he does not find a 6-year ol appealing... so who can DO THOSE PAGEANTS APPEAL TO ??????????

FINALLY!

and is it just me or...does that guys neck look like a rotten turkey neck? ewwww!

those pageants are appealing to over zealous mother's who like to show-off their "perfect" children. it's the proverbial "my baby is prettier than your baby" BS.

i have a daughter...and yes..she is beautiful, i don't need some frivolous pageant's blue ribbon to validate that, like some county fair's pize pig!

What's the question?

I say it's about F'ing time they caught the person responsible and it's sad that the parents were the primary suspects for so long.
