When someone is coping with manifestations of a terminal disease or intractable pain, then I think that person should have the right to determine the course of their own lives...even the ending of it.

No! but I think it can be a necessity for some long-sufffering, degenerative illnesses with no cure/improvement in sight. Wud b good if it's "available" so some people may still "die with some dignity" at least
