dandruff can be a result of hereditary as well as other issues.
the other issues include cleanliness, oiliness, nutrition, contagiousness etc
clearly if any elders in your family lik grandfather, uncle eyc have acute dandruff, then u may also b having hereditary problem. now, u can't cure it but it can b prevented by shampoos, eggyolk etc.
go to doc only when u ahve acute problm,as the medicines they prescribe r pretty highly concentrated chemicals & may cause further loos of hair.
u need to b healthy, hav good food esp. with Vit.A , apply some ayurvedic oil(try to get genuine oils rather than going for open market stuff which has lot of paraffin wax etc.), shmpoo ur hair evenly.

use Nizoral shampoo once a week, and use head and shoulders as the regular shampoo....as this shampoo is very gentle on hair and scalp..and you donot have permanent remedy for dandruff..do not use conditioners on scalp...use it only through hair ...do not oil your hair oil makes dandruff worse...u can even try brihans anti dandruff lotion which is quite natural and does not have any chemical, it is oil free ....check this site http://www.brihans.com/products_cc_dandruff.html

Light massage with hot oil helps to rid the scalp of the flakes. heat pure coconut or olive oil n apply on the scalp with gental massage at night. leave over night and in morning juice of 1 lemon should be applied an hour before shampooing. this is a good weekly treatment for scalp.

Wash all peoples combs with dandruff shampoo(Head and shoulder).And use Head and shoulder or any kind of dandrauff shampoo in the house,and ask all people to use this together.This is a disease which can be contacted by combs.Becarefull when you go publick saloons.

there is no permanent remedy for dandruff. but you can reduce it to a minimum by using Amway's Satinique Dandruff Cntrol Shampoo & Conditioner

soak fenugreek seeds overnight. grind and put the paste on your hair and scalp. keep for 30 minutes. wash it offwith some mild shampoo. repeat twice a week for at least a fortnight. if dandruff persists continue for sometime.

You need to see a good dermatologist. You obviously have a scalp condition much more serious than simple dandruff.
