only in some cases you can recover it.
Maybe it has mould or mildew growing on it, has been affected by liquids, dust, dirt, smoke, heat, or has been twisted, broken, or jammed in the video player.
if above is the case then it can be recovered. but if you have overwritten something then i guess its not possible.

Unfortunately I don't know of any way to recover something taped over on VHS. As far as I know it's lost forever. Sorry.

NO. Once you record over the program the old show is erased by the new recording. You would have to find a copy of the show from some other source and recopy it.
