It's a really complicated situation that has roots back centuries, if not millenia, into the past. Suffice it to say that those who have occupied the territory that is now Israel were not very happy when the world powers of the time, and this did include other than Western nations, decided to hand that area over to the Jews due to the travesties (and no one can deny that) which were perpetuated against them in WWII. Not that I blaim them, but that area has been a hotbed of contention for centuries. That's what happens when several religions claim one bit of land as their holy ground without acknowledging the ties between their religions, which makes no sense to me whatsoever. Anyway, the indigenous governments weren't too happy with that, and things have been tense, or open war at times, ever since.
As to what started this most recent outbreak of violence, I believe, from what I understand of the news, that the Hezbollah did something that they are quite accostomed to, kidnapped several Israeli soldiers. I can't remember what their purpose for this was, but apparently it's a common practice for those terrorists (and those who prey on others due to ridiculous differences should be called that no matter what their nationality or skin color), and the Israelis decided that this was one time too many and they would get their people back by force. Only it's become a large scale issue.
Humanity's just too fricking confrontational.

Hezbollah! And now Israel agrees to leave Lebanon and Hezbollah s refusing to leave unless the Lebanese army promises not to look for their bunkers and weapons? So much for agreeing to the terms of the ceasefire

dont worry someone will whoop the americans a*rse and israel's a*rse.....the crimes in lebanon will not go unpunished....dont worry russia and china r waiting for the right moment to drop their nuclear bombs on american and israeli soil....lets make america a mere desert....then the chinese can spread their population.....

one thing you must admit that Israeli occupied the land and want to become a super power of the region and if anyone will be against it they will have to pay for it as they did
