They are good dog if brought up right, you need to start from a puppy. They big are loveable lap dogs, or they try to be. Goofy at times and they love to play. I just had one put to sleep, it was way past her time, she was a good dog....

This medium-large breed is an imposing, sometimes intimidating animal. Rottweilers are well-known guard dogs and family protectors.
The Rotweiler comes from the the town of Rotweil in the south of Germany. These dogs drove and guarded cattle as well as protected the people who worked and traded the herds.
This breed nearly became extinct in the early 20th century when the Rottweiler was revived as a capable police dog and eventually to become the second most-popular breed of dog in the United States.
These dogs are confident, powerful, and imposing. Rottweilers are loyal protectors of their families and can be domineering among less-confident members of the family. They are aloof and often suspicious of strangers, and are overly protective when they feel their families are threatened.

i own a rottweiler they are great dogs.it's how you train your dog, that makes the difference. any dog breed can be aggressive,if treated poorly. the best place to get a rottie would be from a private breeder. this way you can see if the pups are healthy.if the mother dog seems aggressive ,try finding a different breeder.because the pups could turn out to get aggressive as well.don't get a dog from a pet store!! they are overpriced !!

My favorite breed. :) Rottweilers are very loyal to their family. Before selecting a puppy, check out many breeders in your area. GO see them and see how the parents temperaments are. They are very loving animals, and should not be mean. They will protect the family as well. You do need to spend a lot of time with the rottie puppy as soon as you get her/him. I've had 2 Rotties. One is deceased and the other is still with us. They both are very similar in personalities. They can be stubborn when they want to do something. But usually a firm NO gets them to stop. Both of my Rotties love to speak on command. They both can say "I Love you"... and are just big talkers. They love to give us hugs. They love to SMELL everything. LOL.. My first rottie had a nose that was superglue to whatever she smelled. We had to tell her "leave it" to back off. My other Rottie doesn't do that, but she DOES Love to smell everything. In general, if they are socialized properly and raised right, they are very loyal to you and are very friendly.

WARNING: They are BIG LAP DOGS!!

Like any dog, they are great if taught obedience. They are the most lovable, loyal and intelligent breed I've ever owned.
And contrary to what many people believe, (who have never owned one and/or had the ability to train an animal), they love children and get along great with other animals.

you must train this breed well and to socialise with lots of people/children and dogs as soon as it vacinations are done,
if not trained well and socialised can be your worse nightmare, they are a very strong and dominant breed, very protective of there family and home.

i have 2 rotties and i really looked into the breed before i taken them on . you are doing the right thing about finding out about them before you make the commitment to become a owner.
i went on several rottie breeder sites and also read a few books.
well done you

Turbo Poodles are big on the market these days. Go for one of those instead.

LOL

Rottweilers are overrated and sometimes aggressive. Maybe you should get a Pit Bull and a Doberman at the same time and see how things turn out.

Gee, "Beckie" do you think you took up enough room for your post?

heehee
