Yes, laundry products can make you sick.
The reactions can vary from having runny eyes, sneezing through to breathing difficulties and skin rashes. What is happening when this occurs?
You have become exposed to a chemical (or multiple chemicals) and your body reacts to them.
There are two general degrees of reaction, a mild one will be due to some degree of chemical intolerence or more full blown, due to an actual allergy.
Some people react to many chemicals, this is called multiple chemical sensitivity.
If this is happening to you, try to remove the chemicals and see if you feel better.
It may be best to get a medical assessment of the things that you react to, then you can plan your life to avoid them.
There are many good natural cleaning products that are better for you.
