I see! I wanted to know because there's some weeks where I am too busy to rinse out the cans. I wasn't sure if it was a MUST. The recycle bin starts to smell pretty nasty if I don't rinse them out. x_X

the can will have to be rinsed before it is recycled. Whether or not you have to rinse it depends on your city procedures.

In Paris (france), we need to rinse them before dumping them, but in Rennes (france), we don't: then, they are rinsed in the recycling facility.

In my area, all cans and bottles need to be rinsed out. It helps in the recycling process. They need to be clean before they can be turned into something else. I wash my dishes by hand and leave the cans, etc., for last. If you have a dishwasher just let enough recyclables build up until you have a small sinkful. In the case of cat/dog food, you might want to rinse them right away because they'd smell otherwise.

It depends on your sanitation company's policy. Everything will wash out during the recycling process. Where I live, I don't have to rinse but as you can tell, they get stinky if you don't. They can also attract insects and rodents- no fun!! If you don't feel you have time to rinse them, put them in the sink where you wash dishes and let water splash around/sit in them so you don't have to do any separate work.

It would probably stink less if you rinse them out.
