Why are there so many people who are angry and resentful toward the Catholic Church?

Is it perhaps that people are somehow drawn to the truth but when they see their own evil they project it in anger toward the church?

Sad... because reconciliation, forgivness, mercy and love is the purpose of the Church.

Don't confuse the Catholic Church with EVANGELISM....two WHOLEY different things. Evangelism was created by man to serve man's purposes. Equate Evangelism to your US government.

And GAY priests are not of GOD...they HIDE in the church to do their EVIL DEEDS. Contrary to popular beliefs...the devil doesn't burn (yet), not even in church.

Hate is wrong, spouting angry words and accusations? How does that make Catholic oppositions any better than those they are casting stones at? It is man who does the evil deeds, not God. There are definitely issues with clergy in the church. But that doesn't mean that those people who choose to believe in this religion are bad. Church has become much to political. I personally follow the beliefs taught by the Catholic Church, but I do not follow the politics.

And as for Hitler, just because he said he was Catholic doesn't mean he truly was. Do you honestly believe that God would allow a demonic person like that into the gates of Heaven?

I suspect God only knows! I am an unbaptisty Baptist - Demoninations? I don't think God cares about which church we go to, rather that when we are there, we are looking for him.
What I understand about the issue is that some of the Catholic tradition takes the focus off the fact that we need nothing more then Christ to make us right with God. Many believe that the importance placed on for instance praying to the Virgin Mother, or saying the roasary - that stuff often steers people away from simple faith in a Christ who was born without sin, and died for ours. Others, myself included find it alot of work at uselessness when Christ said the way to His father is through HIM, not his mother or brother, or beads, or confession to a priest, our confession need only be to Him. Anger, etc... just another distraction Satan uses to keep us busy if he can......

For an organization that is supposed to promote love, mercy, and so on, it does a very poor job of it. Deliberately concealing and protecting pedophiles, threatening investigators and families of victims with excommunication, claiming that the Church traditions are somehow above the law, claiming to be the world's only moral authority all the while...

Gee. I can't imagine why people would resent the Catholic Church.

I've had conversations with Catholics who actually defended the Inquisition, the Witch Hunts, and the Crusades as good things. That kind of myopic rewriting of history tends to boil a bit of blood as well.

Well other than the catholic church is an evil morphia style of outdated imperialism that is responsible for multiple millions of deaths and the sponsor of terror in Ireland I don't know . Oh and the whole thing where the pope sided with Hitler - nope can't imagine why anyone would dislike them.

The Romish Bishop hath no jurisdiction in these realms of England Articles of faith Book Common prayer. And thank God for that

You mean, aside from those angry because of the mass murder of muslims (the crusades), the inquisition, the mass murder of jews (from the inquisition up to Nazi Germany - Hitler was a catholic, after all), the mass murder of women (the "witch trials"), land theft and pedophilic priests?

As well as those, there are the protestants who think catholics are "satanists" who worship the pope and the fictional character "Mary". And there are other religions who hate catholics because they are in competition for the same numbers of members, power and money the catholics possess.

But aside from those people, very few hate the catholic church.

its not just the catholic its any faith or religion and i think its stupid every one has a right to their own faith the bible warns us about baring false witness and placing judgment on each other but these so called bible believers pick and chose what they want from the bible and twist the words to prove their points I'm speaking about any one who downs another person or their faith
and also a lot of the non bible believer are guilty of this too. why cant they just read the bible with out twisting its words it says what it means and means what it says

I don't like the Catholic church because it has priests who rape children yet they don't approve of homosexual adults who love each other and rather then teach people about safer sex, which can prevent numerous sexually transmitted diseases, they condemn condoms and because they behave as a religious government body that uses it's influence to make political agendas.That is why I am angry at the Catholic church.

Because they protect pedophiles, keep their people in ignorance and poverty, think that non-catholics will burn in hell, have historically influenced primitive cultures to self-destruction, have set back the women movement by 50 years, don't recognize the right of women to do god's work as priests, deny basic human urges as sin, worship idols, ran the Spanish Inquisition, burnt witches, supported the Nazis, glorify suffering, deny access to god, rewrite the scriptures and history to suit themselves, depend on fear and guilt to keep control, demand money from their poor, are the wealthiest institution on earth and offer no help for those in need, deny the right of a woman to control her body, ran schools and orphanages where thousands of boys (and girls) were molested creating a cesspool of twisted child molesters in our society.
