GOD GAVE TO ALL OF US THE FREE WILL TO DO WHAT WE WANT.
ITS LIKE WHEN YOUR MOMS SAYS "OK SMOKE POT AND HAVE SEX IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT TO DO, BUT EXPECT THE PUNISHMENT WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED"

First, not everyone believes in God and the conmmandments.
Second, the commandments are simple but not easy. People think it's just about not killing or commiting adultery but there is much more. If you forget what day it is, you can break the sabbath without even knowing it and it can be very difficult to honor your father and mother if they are bad parents.
Third, many people just have a built in desire to break the rules. There is good reason that one of the first words a child uses consistently is "NO!".
Finally, people often do not act out of love and that makes it even harder to keep God's commandments.

First there are alot of people who don't know the ten Commandments, i saw on a show one time this guy went around a shopping mall asking people to give him the ten commandments and about 98% could only give 3 to 5 but when asked to name 10 brands of beer they all got 10 of 10 without pausing. Second if people were to understand by keeping the Primary commandments which are found in Matthew 37 He said to them,"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38 This is the greatest and most important commandment. 39The second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments." By keeping these two we don't have to worry about the rest because we don't want be lied to or stolen from. Love does no wrong to a neighbor. Love, therefore, is the fulfillment of the law

Because people realized that the commandments wasn't actually the word of God.... it was part of the testament of someone who said that God actually spoke to him.....

Sure, it sounds fine.....
But if I said that God talked to me, would you believe it?

The bible as a whole is more a set of tales providing moral guidance than a list of "DOs and DON'T DOs" which are meant to be followed verbatim.

Think about it : When you lie to someone, the sin isn't the lying in itself, it's more in the hurt that you cause from it.

When you sleep with someone that you have no intention of marrying, it causes pain for both people.....

That's what real sin is...
Sin isn't some deed that someone did...
..... it really should be considered the consequences of an action that wasn't thought out the entire way through.

If God didn't want people to make decisions,
he wouldn't have given them the ability to do so...

Ultimately, it can be said that the commandments aren't a list of things you CAN'T do... but more a list of things you SHOULDN'T do.... to spare yourself and others a lot of pain and misery.

did you personally receive the commandments? Think about it. Long ago. There were some men who where trying to gain more control over people. They wanted to have ultimate power. so they either wrote a bunch of stories or translated them wrong and put them in a book. They told their people that they should follow them in every way. They made up this things called heaven and hell and scared everyone into believing them. So they gained control. They have been spiritually in control of people for so long people have forgotten that they have a choice now. They can be spiritual without being religious or belonging to a religion. they have a choice. God gave us choices, this is why the commandments that man made are not followed, because people have freedom of choice.

If you're Christian, then you believe it's impossible not to break the Commandments--all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. If it is a sin even to think lustful thoughts (in Matthew), then all sin. This is the miracle of Christianity--that even though we are all sinful, we can all be saved because of the Sacrifice of the Lord.

Because they have more sense than to believe in god. On the other hand, there are some commandments which are morally justifiable (e.g. prohibitions against murder and theft) in that society is degraded by them, and sensible people keep these for the sake of a benificent society.

Man was arrogant and God gave the commandments. God knows there is no way man can keep the commandment; that's why He sent Jesus.

If man can keep the commandments then Jesus has no need to come to earth to be crucified.

well, God gave different people different commandments

most of the people here are not breaking the commandments they were given, even though they do not know they are not breaking them

I think most people feel they arent worthy of the Lord and wont be able to make it to heaven anyways so they excuse themselves to breaking the commandments. I mean we all fall short the bible tells us but through Jesus Christ we can all make it right. I wish you luck on your question.

Because the commandments are unrealistic and don't account for human nature. Which actually was part of Jesus' message when he talked about "grace", too, if I still remember from VBS and youth group. (I'm Pagan now--the only "commandment" is "Do as you will, but harm none.")
