I think we say "fall in love" from the word "befall"
The definition of "befall" is:
Happen: to happen, or happen to somebody, especially through the unexpected workings of chance or fate.
Falling in love does not denote a change of position, such as tripping and falling to the ground.
The highest form of love is described in 1Corinthians- chapter 13

Sorry it just does not sound right, and only men can rise in love.
You can't say "rise in love" people will look at you and say are you mad, how can you do something like that. It has been said for years and there is just no changing it

Well I believe that
We are all a little weird and life's a little weird
and when we find someone whose weirdness
is compatible with ours,
we join up with them and fall in
mutual weirdness and call it love.
Yes , we FALL in mututal weirdness and we FALL in LOVE.....
WHY ? Because as good, elevating and uplifting LOVE may feel at times, true LOVE hurts .... and human beings naturally are programmed to remember more what truly hurt them deeply rather than the moments they were happy ....
Love hurts because when you truly love someone, you break down your defensive walls and completely open yourself up ..... hence you are making yourself vulnerable....
However I believe that people much too often forget that
In love, very rarely do we win
but when love is true, even if you lose,
you still win just for having the tingle of loving someone
more than you love yourself.
LIVE, LOVE and most of all , BE :)

that's really nice!
ok i think to fall in love is like falling asleep and both are something u can't control in a certain point...
and i think when we say i fell in love this means that they are weak in front of love. it's not like saying i rise in love, it could mean that i made an effort to rise in love and feel it... but u just fell in love and u can't help it....
it's sweeter!!!

We say "fell" because when you "fall" it's usually an accident and we're never prepared for it. We don't say "rise" cause... I don't know. I guess you can "rise" in love after you've "fallen in love".

Because the "rising" aspect of love isn't appropriate to discuss in polite company.

I think it is because when we feel love for someone we "fall" in a way. We let the guard "down". Even though we gain much from love, we also loose in a way, because we are no longer the sole owners of our feelings, they belong to someone else. In a way, we fall when we love. WE FALL IN THE NAME OF LOVE!

falling in love is like falling off a cliff. we have no control over the fall or what waits ahead, all we can do is hope we land safely, but sometimes our landing is a disaster

bec its when emotions take over and that is when we fall; emotions take over our senses. No one really rises in love bec when u uses ur brain to be in love, then thats something else...
love = emotion = fall
? = mental = rise
