I honestly know EXACTLY how you feel. And i do not know the answers, for i am searching for myself. I cannot watch a scary movie, alone or with people. If i do, i'll lay in bed and crazy thought will fill my mind and i will think the scary person from the movie is after me. I know its not real, but my mind think it is, and i'll through myself into a huge anxiety attack and will sit in bed all night until my body cannot take it anymore. I am 20 years old, and have been like this for as long as i can remember. its usually an every night thing, esp if im at some place i am not confortable at. I've learned how to snap myself out of it at times, but most of the time the thoughts control me. Sometimes i have to take sleeping pills just so i can go to bed. It drives me completely insane and it makes me feel like i'm a little 10 year old. Its not funny, people think this and that, but the fear is very real. my shrink i used to have told me all the fears we have in life are because of a past negative experience, most times in child hood. WHich is very true in my case. I don't have to watch a movie to get scared, everytime that light turns off, esp if im alone, thought will control my mind. I really dont know exactly what to advise you to do. Maybe talk with someone, theres always a root of where our fears come from. Maybe this is more than just a fear and a mental illness...anxiety disorder of some sort. Life is crazy.... i wish you luck with this... wish i could help you out somemore. Try and get to the root of the problem, talk with some sort of shrink. If thats to big of a step, try and start small. Talk to a friend or relative. Good luck!!!!

Hey, it just means you've got a good imagination. I'm middle-aged, and it still happens to me. I saw a scary movie with two people, and when they went home I was so scared. I turned on something funny on t.v. and focused on it as hard as I could, until I almost managed to forget the scary stuff. I have a great imagination, which is why I love books and movies, so I avoid scary movies at night. People with no imagination are missing something, that's all.

I'm a 43 year old man, and I don't like scary movies either. Why? Because they scare me too much!!! I'm talking about home alone or in a theatre with 500 other people. I had a girlfriend for a while who LOVED them, so I'd go with her. My imagination is too active. I'd get some the images stuck in my head. I guess I identify with the characters too much. I react as if I am seeing real people dieing... And I work in the movie biz! I had to stop going with her. She laughed at me, which I understood, but I still had to stop going!
Do you look at accidents? Most people seem to. I can't do that either... The same thing happens - the images stay... some of them forever --
I think we are in a minority, but by no means weird. I've always explained it by saying I have TOO much empathy...

yes i am. about 2 months ago i saw the movie "grudge" & i got so afraid that i decided not to watch a scary movie for the rest of my life. later my friends watched "the ring" but i didn't join them.
personally i think it is our human instinct to be afraid. & if u r afraid to watch scary movies, it is a perfectly normal thing. besides, what is the need to watch scary movies when u got so many nice movies hitting the box office.

Everything you look hear or speak about will immediately affect your consciousness and automatically certain emotions and desires will arise. For example, people looking a lot of violent movies will tend to be violent themselves. This is how nowadays the soldiers are trained plus by playing violent games. When somebody is looking romantic movies he/she will develop desire and feelings for similar loving affairs. But when one is looking devotional movies glorifying God - devotion, surrender, desire to attain the kingdom of God and His association will naturally appear. So, my advice for you would be that you should take care of your future what means better look after eternal benefit than some temporary silly things.
Please, chant Hare Krishna and be happy.

I swear the movies that scares me the most are Rob Zombies, I cannot watch those movies of his without being disturbed for several days after, and I must have my husband with me through the whole movie, because I am petrified.
