That is the question of the century. It's like Elvis fanatics claiming Elvis is still alive without any proof. It's all belief this and belief that. They want you to believe in order for their own belief to be reinforced.

Even though your question is laced with sarcasm and skepticism, I believe at its core is an honest question and as such deserves an honest answer...
First of all, your first premise that God NEVER shows up when people call on him is not correct; there are many times when He is not visibly present, yes agreed, but there are times recorded that he has appeared to mankind. For instance, Moses saw a small portion of God and it was so dazzling that he had to wear a veil over his face for a time so that the people could look upon him.
Another time recorded that God showed up was at Mt. Carmel when Elijah had a showdown with the false religious leaders and devil worshipers (1 Kings 18:17-40 if you care to read the biblical account). Now, God did not make a visible appearance at this time, but He did answer Elijah's prayer in a very dramatic way.
When Jesus walked the earth 2000 years ago He said "If you have seen me you have seen the Father.", "I and the Father are one." And His name means God our savior plus he literally fulfilled the 700 year old prophecy in Isaiah 7:14 which said he would be called Immanuel, which means God with us.
For reasons we may not understand yet, God chooses to reveal himself directly very little, but if we ever needed a clear picture of Him, we need look no further than Jesus. And even now, He asks only that we take the overwhelming evidence as to his existance and simply believe without full disclosure until the day when time stops and eternity begins. It seems like such a long time to us time-dwellers, but on the scale of eternity our lives in this time frame will be over and ushered into eternity in a quick moment... THEN all shall know and see, some happily and some not so happily...
Your second premise, that God does not "at least acknowledge us for our deeds and speak to us" would be disputed by many who have a close relationship with God; just because perhaps your life so far has not led to that experience do not for a moment think that others have all come to that same conclusion; God has said that we shall find Him when we seek with ALL our heart.
Your next premise, that "God is not real", has no real basis in fact or science; and as a matter of fact Nature SHOUTS that the Creator is here.
It's interesting that you refer to God as the "perfect being" for that is exactly what he is, but sadly you somehow jump to the wrong conclusion that He never speaks for Himself... which He has many times. Sometimes man may hear Him but not understand... Like one time God spoke and many people heard only thunder, but others heard a voice speaking.
There are many distorted books on the topic of religions, on that you and I agree. But I will take issue about the Bible being distorted (even thugh there are certain versions that are watered down)... It is God's word and here is another place you can hear God speak, but it takes a heart that is open to God to hear Him there.
Your simple acknowlegement and acceptance, or rejection, of the truth will determine your future. I encourage you to read the new testament and to pray to God and ask Him to prove himself to you.. a nice experiment... will you do it? God bless!

It is very simple God does not hear sinners. Therefore the sinner will not admit that he or she is a sinner, so up come the excuses. Don't believe me, don't believe preachers, don't believe anyone. Believe God. The Bible.
Joh 9:31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
1Jo 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
The law is the ten commandments.
Do you know anyone that keeps the ten commandments? Therein lies the reason that God does not hear and answer most prayers. He is not a no show. The people don't beliceve him.
Jesus said that he did not come to destroy the law, but most christians say that he did.

Believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see.

GOD does answer your prayers and questions. Maybe you are looking to hard for the answer and cannot see it right in front of you. I do that quite a bit. I am by no means a Bible thumper either. I just believe in GOD. I am a miracle to be alive today. Things definitely don't go my way. I lost everything over a year and a half ago. No job for over a year and finding a way to support myself is not easy. I made some bad decisions. The one thing I asked from GOD was the ability to forgive myself. All the wrongs I have done in my life I wanted forgiveness. Not just God's but my own. I know that GOD will forgive for all my miss deeds. But I had to forgive me. To a degree we make our own hell. If I am wrong and the only person who believes this fine. You believe your way and I will believe mine. Either way it goes I will be watched over otherwise I wouldn't be alive today. Plus we don't always like the answers we get from our prayers. So we shut them out. I hope this does not dampen your spirits on GOD. The answers are all there be patient, have faith, and good luck. You just know that GOD is there.

If religions werent so controling maybe we would be able to understand God. When we pray, GOD answers our questions. We dont just get a "light bulb moment" The answers come from God. We are so stuck on believing what we see, instead of what powers lye within. When we do good deeds God acknowledges them by good things happening back to us. When bad things happen, its to educate us for the good that is to come from it. If "Superman, Michael J. Fox, Montel Williams, etc. didnt go through the trauma they went through, they would not have dedicate time from their lives to help others facing the same. We dont SEE our thoughts, and imaginations, but we use that power to make our lives work. We dont SEE our dreams during waking ours, but they exist. God speaks for himself through "us". The more power he gives us the more powerful we become. The more we pray & meditate the more powerful we get. I can go on and on. I dont practice religion, Im a spiritual being. We are spirits in these bodies. And I believe God blesssed us with these bodies to experience life. So have fun, enjoy and use the power God gave us! : )

do you think if you prayed for a corvette it would appear in your driveway?
i was short on cash one day taking bus to the bank with my wife and kids on the way to the fair.
i needed a quarter or else i would have to take the bus alone and come back for them an hour later.
that would really ruin our day at the fair.
i prayed... 'god, i just need a quarter this one time'
five steps later there was a quarter on the sidewalk.
we had a good time after i cashed my check and went to the fair.
is that proof of god???
lol, no i don't think so, but think about what you are asking for.
if it was proven would you have free will?
do you work hard when the boss is watching,
and slack off when boss is at lunch or away at meeting?
also i don't believe the bible or organized religion is 100% correct,
mostly to be read 'between the lines'
(interpreted)

So, basically you think that an all powerful creator should jump to our command. We should say "God", and He should come running like our pet dog. Now that sounds like a being worthy of respect!
Regarding your comment about Christians answering their own questions, what do you do when you have a question? Do you not try to think of a logical answer from your beliefs and experiences? Where do you get all of your opinions if you don't do that? Do they just pop into your head magically and you simply throw them out onto Yahoo answers?
Seriously, I think that you really need to reevaluate yourself and consider whether or not you're being hypocritical before you ask these things. I don't care who you are or how much you think that you know, you aren't right all of the time.

God has spoken - through His prophet Moses and has given all of mankind the Torah. The Torah is God's holy Word.
And until we start living the way He wants us to according to Torah, then He has nothing to say to mankind. Why? Because we aren't ready yet. How can God speak to His creation when we haven't even started using what He has already given us.
People wish to run before they learn how to walk. So how can we seek out the answers to life and the universe when we haven't yet started reading the Torah He already gave us.
People aren't ready yet, and won't be for a while.

Hey. Hope I can help you a little.
God did show up to man. For over thirty years Jesus was here on earth, teaching and making miracles. He wasn't just a prophet, or a good guy; He was God!
He came to earth because all of mankind was guilty of sin and He knew we all couldn't pay the penalty which was death. So He died for all of us and forgave all of us. We still sin but the same forgiveness is available. Available only if you ask for it in humbleness and true repentance. "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace" Ephesians 1:7 But Jesus didn't stay dead. He rose again and is still alive making places in heaven for those who serve Him. "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me [Jesus]. In My Father's house are many mansion; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." John 14:1-3 It takes faith to talk to God. Faith that even some Christians don't use. He's right there and would love to listen to you and He would even more love to be allowed, by faith, to solve your problems; His way, with His timing. "Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray." James 5:13
If you would like to hear God speak for Himself, look in the Bible. Start in the book of John and keep going. The Holy Spirit will help you understand if you ask Him, by faith. He's God too! "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind." James 1:5-6
I hope this has helped or maybe it has caused more questions!
I challenge you to start talking to God and to find a Bible. It'll be the best thing for you.

If God were the way that you say then, a lot of people got it wrong !
But maybe a lot of people are right and you are wrong !
So then , do you claim to know everything there is to know ? And if you do, then there is no one person like you....who knows everythimg there is to know. But if you don't quite know everything there is to know , then is it possible that the God we proclaim exists in that part of the things you do not know ?

Just because God does not physically show Himself, that doesn't mean He's a no-show. I "see" Him everyday in te things around me, things He does, answered prayers that could ONLY be from God. I don't have to see Him with my eyes, I can see Him with my heart and that is enough for me.
