Bill Gates is the richest man in the world, and therefore you could say his family is the wealthiest, however, I believe if you added up the net worth of all of Sam Walton's (Wal-Mart) kids, their family net worth would be greater (I think).
Then again, it depends on your definition of family. If you are including extended relation, then I imagine that families like the Kennedy's would be up on the list. Maybe the Vanderbilts? DuPont's? Rockefellers?
