With that, should police and border patrols be authorized to profile in order to get proof of citizenship or papers allowing those "profiled" to be here? I think it is absolutely necessary...
For those who disagree...grow up....life isn't a fairy tale and reality requires rules....

for the person who says she's old enough to be my grandmother....what have you done with YOUR life to be a liberal who has a crappy job in retail (your profile) and unmarried (perhaps liberals who love illegals have problems maintaining relationships)!
The difference between us is I am a 55 year old, very active, very involved, very patriotic, grandmother who is still scuba diving, camping, traveling, caring for family, working, and being responsible about protecting this nation..... and I pity your life.....You seem bitter because you have failed. Get over it and quit whining because YOU think life is unfair.

I am willing to do anything to thwart terrorism. If you have done nothing wrong then you have nothing to be worried about. If our forefathers were willing to fight to the death their own flesh and blood in the civil war to do the right thing for our country then the least I could do for them is submit to an occasional random search.

you asked a question which not all people will share you opinion. I do not think you should necessarly think that those who disagree are immature or need to as you say "grow up"
my mother and father came from different country's my father married someone for a green card, then he met my mother and he married her this time he had already divorced his first wife. If someone leaves their country it may be, well will most likely be because their country does not have the oppurtunities that the US fortunatley has. Yet if it wasn't for the immigrants, who would do the grunge work? Upperclass citizens with diplomas and what not? No i do not think so. They have the right to come here. Sometimes the "rules" are in the best interest for people. They are people just like you. Why object their rights. They want a better chance in life. If we can give them that, why not GIVE it to them.
Yes life is not a fairy tale. Nor should it be. Life is not life with some obstacles. Notice i said obstacles. I wonder who do u think would do the kind of jobs you don't notice. Maids, cleaning services, construction workers, garbage collectors, janitors, and so on?
My father is arabic. I am half. He is from Palestine. And people think that anyone who looks like a terrorist should not be allowed to come to america. BULL ****. i am 16 when i tell people my ethnitcity . Some ask me DO YOU KNOW saddam hussein or Osada Bin Ladin... however you spell his name. Why when this person started this does everybody who may have the same religion or what not be objected to these types of racial comments,or injustice when they are innocent? People died because of this man (may their souls be at rest), yes but it is not fair to make every person who may be from the same place yet not share his views answer His crime. His not thiers. The president is such a plain idiot. I do not understand why he thinks we are stupid. We know what is going on, i wonder if he knows...
If a white man had done this, what do you think they would have done. Pulled every white man off the streets and question their profile??? I doubt it.
PS. no one is of pure race. everyone's ancestors are immigrants. If all immigrants we questioned for their profile then no one would be left in the US.

if a bank robber was described as a 6'4" white man, police would stop all the 6'4" white men they saw and try to determine they if there were guilty or not. if the robber was described as a 5'2" black woman, the would not stop 3'4" albino guys, right? so why search a little old black lady, or geeky looking college-age white guy at the border or at an airport, when as of yet, the only people involved in the terrorism the US is trying to stop has been younger men and women, mostly of Arab descent? why waste time focusing on those who don't fit the 'profile' of those who are perpetrating these crimes against humanity? OF COURSE profiling makes sense! but in this retarded backward culture, what makes sense is out the door, and what makes people feel good is what is actually done.

Ned B hits another home run! If you have not gone to the web site he posted, do by all means. Especially you Clinton lovers. And to the question at hand, YES we should be profiling.
We are way too politically correct in this country for our own good. Time to get over that problem and do what is right and good for the country. Feelings be d a m n e d.

Yes - only if we can use racial profiling to determine if blondes can get drivers licenses.
What type of question are you asking? When does racial profiling end? People with green eyes? Beards? Gray hair? Old ladies? Children with SpongeBobSquarePants t-shirts?
It is easy to do because it takes no thinking. THAT'S the problem - people are too lazy to use their brains to solve the problem.
As well as people don't want to pay higher costs for vegetables, hotel rooms, new house construction, janitorial services.
Here's an idea to stop illegal immigration - let's all get counterfeit-proof worker documentation and jail any employer who hires an undocumented worker. Just one little problem - any piece of paper can be counterfeited.
Use your head and THINK - I know that's difficult, but get used to it.
Ignorance can be cured. Stupidity can't.

Yes. If the threat is coming from a certain country, and we have a good idea what people from that country usually look like, then it would make sense to be more cautious with people we suspect are from that country, wouldn't it? Of course, we'd still need to uphold "innocent before proven guilty".
In the case of border security, enforcers should have the authority to search you if they find "due cause", and if you look suspicious and match the look of the people from the country that we're expecting the attack to come from, it'd be "due cause" in my opinion. Noone says you're guilty when you're being searched, and if you feel inferior and humiliated because you're being searched, a very wise lady once said "Noone can make you feel inferior without your consent."
For the argument that this will lead to a slippery slope, and "where will it end?" I think the argument that I have just laid out for racial profiling should be able to answer that question. It ends with the people that we don't have "due cause" to search... Of course, what is "due cause" changes from person to person. But in the case of our borders, it makes sense to screen those that fit the description of past threats.
Calling people ignorant never helps by the way. It makes a lot more sense to light a candle than point out the darkness...

Yes racial profiling should be used. Not only to protect our borders, but also at the airports to protect all the non-terrorists. Its common sence. The 80 year old grandmother does not need to be frisked by 3 guards while a towelheaded dirka-dirka slips through. The grandmother is LESS LIKELY to be a terrorist, than other people at the airport. People who dont understand this are ignorant.

Profiling means thinking in a predictable way. That kind of thinking will lead to the US being caught napping time and again. Those, who presumably we need protecting from, will only have to be imaginative to outsmart the rednecks...erm I mean Southern Border Patrols and those responsible for Homeland Security.

I think that it not that it, is racial profiling on our borders,I fell that it is more that we are scared about what might happen again in our country and we really do not know how to attack this issue, with out hurting others feeling or how they will react, we must remember with action there is always a reaction

Yes--it is a precaution. It is not like we don't have reason to question. And people should understand that-if they are not hiding or trying to protect someone else. It is a reality that we need to address in the best way possible.
To the post above--if there were blond nasty people around--I would say check them out.
Again we owe it to protect others and precautions are sometimes needed. I would not mind if they do it to me--the airport does. Big deal. What is the problem?
Its not like their asking for a personal cavity check-if you can understand that.

HELLZ YES! if we didnt, we'd have millions and trillions of illegals hopping the borders, creating more and more slums, and raising the prices of homes. we have enough mexicans to sustain a good strong work force for the next 30 years. we should close it down, and reopen it in 2040. That would be perfect. Sorry to all you mexicans who read this.! LOL!
