I have the same problem some times. But usually when I do some yoga or meditation or stretching right before I go to bed or even on my bed I can sleep better. I have also never wanted to take sedatives but a couple of benadryl's might be good for you anyways. I have bought goodnight tea before and it has a little bit of a natural sedative to get you dozy. That might do the trick for you too.

I'am also seriously addicted to yahoo! answers and this keeps me up half the night. The current time is 2:30 in the morning.

If you have already tried taking a warm bath and drinking some warm milk before bed, if you don't do anything in bed but sleep (and have sex), and you don't think about work, worry over the kids, or the bills like most of us do when it's time to sleep, and if you already turn your alarm clock away so you can't watch it while you are trying to go to sleep, I'd say it's time to pop a couple benadryl, it has just enough sedative effects to get you there.

I used to work in graveyard shifts (8pm to 8am). I do not take sleeping pills to help me sleep because these pills make you sleep physically while your mind is still alert when someone walk by your bed. Some more sleeping pills is additive.
In order to help me sleep, I did the following:
- use lavender aromatherphy : Be careful because some friends of mine have headache when they smell lavender.
- take melantonin : Melatonin is non-additive and can be bought off the shelf. You can take up to 6mg. Try to get 1mg per capsules because you can try increase the dosage starting from 1mg. 1mg works for me while my colleague needs 3mg. There are books solely on mleantonin, one book mentioned that this supplement is able to prolong youth....
- Sleep starter by 21st Century : Melantonin is keep you asleep but if you just have problem falling asleep, this may be better.

Hope it helps.

I have the same problem. I've been asleep for 2 hours and here I am on the internet! I have been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and am on medication. When I first started the med, I slept much better but now that I'm used to it, here I am...wide awake! Talk to a doctor.

Some people don't need more than a few hours of sleep each night. Ho do you feel during the day? Tired? OK?
Maybe you don't need anymore!

May sound silly, try to pleasure yourself before going to sleep (until you reach orgasm). It usually makes people feel easier to sleep because it makes them relax.
