I believe God is a real person and because his life has no limits His concept of time differ from ours. I believe he created the earth and animals and then later Adam and Eve. People who study the bible know that a day to God is a 1000 Year to us. With that in mind I know the earth Is billions of years old. I know that Adam lived an unknown amount of time on the earth before he and Eve sinned and start to die(there age is base on the time they received judgment because before that time they were going to live forever). I believe the bible when it said God will judge the earth and the righteous will live forever upon it. Gods purpose for the earth has not change and people will live forever on it.

I am glad you asked... I think of God as a Universal Energy, in fact I think that we are all a part of this energy at our essence (and, as you say, beyond our human understanding).
I don't think that "God" spends time running our lives or judging us - I think that God is a facilitator that sends us what we ask for. I don't think we have to pray for it though - I think "home" sends us more of what we think most. If we are always saying "I can't afford that" that will continue and be mirrored in our lives (God thinks "the course must be too easy - send more Lack!").
Bottom line is we have all chosen to come - we have chosen the time and circumstances of this life to learn something(s) that can only be learned here on Earth. We planned the lesson and picked what friends to take and what roles we would play. "God" is our link to home - our caretaker while we are away. It loves us and wants to help us - that's all.
Peace!

I agree with what you say in your question. That is my concept of god as well. To pretend that we on earth know what god wants is extremely arrogant.
perhaps god doesn't want anything because that's not in his nature?
As for judeo-christian religions, if god favors only one group of people (the israelites), I don't want to have anything to do with that god. I mean, it says in jewish and christian scriptures that god has chosen the jewish people over others. That's kind of twisted.
Someone very wise once said something about if God gave us the gift of reason, I'd reason he'd want us to use it.

God is what you make it. to get technical 'god' is simply a name used to describe the unknown forces of life and death. They say death is a journey to the great unknown. The personification of god is the hard concept to grasp. But if you look at it as in giving the wind or rain a face or personality. if you write a story of what they might say.

God is unconditional love with the power to crush you like a bug. Kind of like a parent. The rub is, some kids have cruel parents, and my definition would state that God is like them too. My thoughts on God are incomplete. Please look me up after I'm dead.

YOUR RIGHT, HE IS HARD TO UNDERSTAND.
BUT IF YOU SAY HE IS BEYOND OUR COMPLETE
UNDERSTANDING,THAT MUST MEAN HE OPERATES
OUTSIDE OF TIME & SPACE AS WE UNDERSTAND IT.
THINK OF IT THIS WAY MY FRIEND,HE,S LIKE A DAD
WHO SETS THE RULES,IF WE DON,T FOLLOW THEM
WE GET PUNISHED.IN OTHERWARDS WE MAKE OUR
OWN HOLES GOD DOES'NT, HE IS VERY CLEAR WITH
HIS RULES FREE WILL.HARDLY ANY KID LIKES OUR
PARENTS RULES,EVEN THOUGH I BELIEVE THIS CONCEPT
SOMETIMES I DONT UNDERSTAND EITHER,BUT ARE WE
SUPPOSED TO?JUST TRY & STICK TO THE BASICS I
THINK THATS THE WAY ITS GOT TO BE,I GUESS THATS
WHAT THEY MEAN WHEN THEY SAY GOD WORKS IN
MYSTERIOUS WAYS.
