This questions is intended for people of all religions. Why, do you think, christians insist on quoting the bible in answer to all questions concerning religions that are not their own. Is it a personal ministry thing? A nosiness thing? What d'ya think?

Because for christians, the bible IS the answer to everything. They're just preaching what they know.
Sometimes it gets out of hand and you wanna shake them and just be like "I don't believe in your religion. Deal with it.". But I guess the majority of them's just trying to help?

Because there is always some one out there who thinks their way is the only right way. So, they feel they have to show you "the right way" or they think it's up to them to make sure you go to heaven. Really, it's just a difference of opinion. We all have them. I do agree however, that people shouldn't be so close minded about things. But hey, at least you're getting more than one side of the story when they give such answers. Some of them are rather...well I think you know what I mean 'cause I can't think of a word for it. They shouldn't push their belief on others is basically what I'm saying.

If your religion taught you that a sacred book was the actual words of your god, then you would feel very compelled to tell others that "this is the way it is." That is how Christians feel. I guess that if you were to be very specific, and stated very clearly, "I do not believe the Bible to be factual" or something like that, they may be more willing to use another method to try to prove their case or support their opinion. Sometimes, you just have to be very specific when you ask questions on this site.

They believe that anyone who doesn't worship Jesus will be severely punished, over and over again for all eternity. They are then convinced, that the only possible humanitarian act is to convert all others to worship Jesus with them. Do not blame them. Blame the church. It was the church who burned witches. It was the church who edited the original texts the bible was taken from for it's own purposes. It is the church that preaches intolerance and bigotry. The individual followers are just looking for a reason to exist. They very seldom are even aware of what really goes on in the name of god.

I think it's the only religion they would know how to use. Christians would quote the bible as a reference point for backup or proof when making a point because it's all they ever known.

If it includes all religions, then any religion may respond.
Christians quote the Bible in order to support their answers with truthful references. It is also a personal ministry to some, to me.
It is my ministry to "seek and save the lost" in this world. If the lost, atheists and agnostics, find their way in here, it is not an accident but is God's direction for them. God placed me and others in here to answer questions for the student, the curious and the lost.
If you are lost, welcome! We will pray for you to soften your heart and feel God's touch.

Why, because religious people need to continually bombard gullible minds to the point of brain-washing, in order to decieve them into joining a given religious cult. Why? For money of course. You will notice that all religious preachers just pump their one theory (God exists) down our throats.
When the science community makes a discovery or modifies a theory they publish a paper for all to view, speculate on, and debate. Invariably such discoveries open up our simplistic minds and expand our horizons. Examples would be the works of Einstein and Hawking, to name a very small sample.
So why do preachers have to continually pump their one theory (God exists) down our throats. Why do they stand on street corners and hand out leaflets, yell at passers by, gather huge crowds and push unsuspecting victims over in the belief they will be cured of whatever mental or physical ailment invades them, if they just believe in the theory of God.
Why can’t the believers of religious theory just behave in a decent manner, in much the same way as the scientific community does. The answer to all of these questions is simple. They know their theory of God is wrong, and saturation mental and verbal bombardment is the only way they can convince people, and they do it directly or indirectly for money.

Because the're naive enough to think that spewing scripture is going to make hard-core non-believers blink and say, "Oh, my, gosh! Suddenly I want to go get baptized! That bit about do unto others is the most original philosophy I've ever heard. That must be the only way to follow it is to become a CHRISTIAN! I guess that if some dude named Jesus got himself executed then I will always be happy!"

It makes them feel superior to look down their noses at someone else's beliefs. These people are very insecure in their own beliefs, so that's why the constantly need reassurance. But sometimes I think it's a busybody thing too.

I am a Christian and i can say from experience that the reason that this is done is to give you a reference to what it is that they believe and why. This enables you to look it up and see for yourself what the Bible saies. this alows you to come to your on desision based on it.
