Im not a fan of either.
Alpine is good an d has a lot of gear that can be added on, but is a little expensive.
Sony is also very good. I never have had a problem with a Sony head unit.
Alphasonik is also good. This is a Alpine company that makes radios for car manufacturers. Lots of great features and the units are easy to figure out how to use.

I think as far as power Pioneer, I have had both but Pioneer seems to set itself above JVC.

The top brands in car audio, as far as head units go, are:
Alpine
Kenwood
Pioneer

Pioneer is much better than JVC, but is not the best one out of them all. Stay away from anything sony...when it comes to car audio-they have always had problems and been glitchy.

I have onwed many head Units, and i have first hand knowledge that Pioneer has better quality in there products, at least over JVC.

Most manufacurers have their "upper end" and "lower end". There's no clean-sweep.

They all work though. If you're not super serious about car audio performance, just get what you can afford, with the features you want.

pioneer is better than jvc.jvc cd players skip to much.

pioneer hands down. but personally i like kenwood most. even though i dont own kenwood, i own pioneer.
