i am a chinese girl. i'm 18.
i'm growing up in HK.
i have never gone to other countries.
because i'm not born in a middle class family.
i love english (language) so much, even i speak bad at that.
when i phoned my friends and ask them to speak english with me,
but not cantonese/ chinese.
they just said i'm crazy, abnormal, and some things like that.
oh, why am i so unlucky that haven't meet many english native speakers?
how can i communicate with foreign people?

You are doing amazingly well with the written language. Sorry to say, much better than many American 18 year-olds. One suggestion, keep corresponding on sites like this and read the questions and answers out loud for practice. I realize that is only one way, but it is something, at least. Good luck and keep up the good work.

rejoice. you speak english better than 90% of the people on this website, most of whom are native english speakers.
you should look into an exchange program or a rotary scholarship (I think they still offer those). going to the U.S. or the U.K. and immersing yourself in the language is going to be the best way to get better at it. i know you said you didn't have a lot of cash to finance such a trip, but i know that there are organizations that help with the costs, especially if your family were to reciprocally host a foreign student for a similar length of time.

you can practice your english here! or just leave your email address so people who are interested to have a chat (or possibly learn cantonese) could reach you..
you could also try.. Yahoo Messenger or MSN. it's better than ICQ..
GOod Luck

There are many ex-pat. communities in HK. Why don't you go where these people hang out? I remember walking past an 'Australian bar/pub' in 2001, so there must be other English bars/pubs around.
