I have dated a man off and on for 3+ years. We a very close friends. Now my best girlfriend is wanting to start a relationship with him, knowing that it hurts me. Am I wrong in thinking that she should not see him?

No your not wrong in thinking that way it is not right. She should be loyal to you and not try to get with him. My situation is way different years ago I liked this guy and my friend was already hooking up with him and after they broke up I knew I had no chance with him no matter what because that is my friends ex. Even if it hurt me I still did not go after the guy. I made a sacrifice in the name of friendship. So she should back off.

tricky....personally i would not be happy that someone wants to date someone i went out with and KNOWS that i hate it.thats like stabbing you twice in the back..but..in the end you cant help who you fall for .well you kind of can believe me i have done it for 15 years twice.because i know it would be inappropriate but some people cant help it and the decision shes made is still go after the guy against your wishes, so its down to you now and how you want to accept or not accept the situation.now the balls in your court.

Even though he is not yours I still think it is a backstabbing thing for her to do. There are many other fish in the sea, why want the one that has been on and off the market counter going stale?

She shouldn't see him out of respect for you. Why does she want to date someone that you broke up with anyway? The way I see things like that is she's getting "sloppy seconds"(from you); )

You are not wrong, a true friend would never hook up w/ your ex. And if you've told her that it hurts you and she doesn't care, sounds like you don't need her as a friend anymore.

No you're not wrong. If she is your friend, she wouldn't hurt you. Get a new friend.

YOU ARE NOT WRONG SHE IS, AND IF SHE WAS REALLY
A TRUE FRIEND SHE WOULD NOT GO THERE SINCE SHE
KNOW HOW THIS MAKE YOU FEEL. BUT SHE SOUND LIKE
SOME ONE THAT NOT YOUR FRIEND, AND YOU MAY HAVE
TO CUT HER LOOSE. IF SHE DOES DECIDE TO GET WITH
HIM. BUT MY OLD SAYING WHAT GO AROUND WILL COME
BACK AROUND AND BITE HER WHERE THE SUN DONT SHINE. TRUST ME.

Of course you would feel that way, and if she was any kind of friend she wouldn't date him
