It's like anywhere else, it has it's ups and downs. We can't say what kind of people are here, because it's based on what your used to. If you usually live in a rural area with less diversity, then yea, VA Beach has more of a mixture of people. Like anywhere it has it's good neighborhoods and bad, and has been in the news a lot lately for some serious events (which tend to happen during the tourist season). If your asking because you are considering moving here, then try visiting a couple times first, and don't consider living in a specific area without checking it out fully first and asking someone about that area.

All sorts of fun. Nice (tho sometimes very crowded) beaches. Great club scene. Great museums, art and music. Lots of outdoorsy stuff (check out Back Bay Wildlife Refuge/ False Cape State Park). Very wide open social possibilities.

currently if you are Caucasian and have no Hispanic blood or black, mixed or any of that, you have allot to do. If other wise don't go it has been in the news allot. that the police are racist and will beat you for no reason. Not from personal experience but i live close and watch the news.

It is good for walking on, swimming, body boarding, and the occasional dump you might have to take while your there.
