My understanding of LPG is that it is a cleaner fuel source than petrol (http://www.lpgautogas.com.au/index.cfm?Action=Enviroment), so it would lower the rate of damage if a substantial number of people switched.

neither petrol or LPG use affect the ozone layer.

it may have some slight effect on greenhouse gas & climate change because LPG burns more completly.

but given currnet trends any improvement will be lost by people getting bigger cars/trucks.
