If you do not believe in God, then how did everything come to exist??

Some must reads.... The Case for a Creator by Lee Strobel (AWESOME!)
The Case For Christ.. there are numerous former atheists who went out to disprove Christianity and became believers in Jesus after their search came to an end!!!

Yes, I am very passionate about this as well. I believe in God, and I believe we go Home to Him after this life. I have always loved trees and I feel they had to be created by an incredible creator. I am glad to hear others feel the same way.

No evidence. The marvels of existence do not in any way imply the actions of an intelligent or interactive creator. Catholic theologian Hans Kung, in a huge book (Does God Exist?) examined the question in minute detail and concluded that the existence or non-existence of God could not be decided on the basis of evidence. I agree. Since Kung's question cannot be answered on evidence, it can be shown that there are no observable consequences of such a belief. I prefer to keep life simple by not postulating the existence of an entity which provably cannot influence me -- I have other things to worry about.

I'd rather focus on this life and concentrate on being a good citizen of this planet and time. If there is an afterlife, there is nothing we can do to influence it that we wouldn't do otherwise in this life anyway.

Yes. The waves of the endless ocean, the majestic sunrise, the infinite tapestry of stars are all great. More reason to enjoy this paradise and work to preserve it for our children and beyond.

No, there's not enough evidence. I look at the night, the stars, the beach, and I see the night, the stars, and the beach. Nowhere is there good evidence to support a god's existence. There's no need to add god into the equation.

There are plenty of theists turned atheists as well. I've been an atheist my entire life (though I was raised in a Christian household). Reading the Bible and researching various other religious works only reinforced my atheism. There are plenty of books on reasons for atheism as well, End of Faith by Sam Harris is a good one. If you want a quick read, check out "Reply to A Christian" by Sam Harris (http://www.secularhumanism.org/index.php?section=library&page=sharris_26_4 ).

I think those things are beautiful as well, but Beauty does not equal Supernatural Being.

It feels natural to want to thank "someone" for all the beautiful things in nature, but it's important to make sure you look at the whole picture. Nature also produces hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, volcanoes, and a host of other very nasty things. I don't mean to be a downer, but it's important to be objective if you're talking about "evidence" for something. You can't just selectively pick the beautiful parts of the world and say they all point to God -- because that's just being biased.

i believe in afterlife, but god,....not a conventional one. maybe god is a woman or god is both. the world is all about polarity, if the sun represents a man and the moon a woman as in solar and lunar then wouldn't "god" need that too, to be balanced? it is scientific fact that the moon regulates the tide. maybe i just believe in mother nature and father time.

Good point.

I believe in the Christian God (and afterlife).

I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).

Cordially,
John

I do!!!
But I don't beleive that it's only ONE God, I beleive that there are many but at the end all of them are ONE, it's a little confusing.
I don't beleive in only one religion because only one doesn't gives me all of the answers I'm looking for in this life.

I like the examples u gave;-)
