Yes. Most people experiment with drugs because they are curious as to how it will effect them. And, a lot drugs bring out a part of you that you never could even imagine about. Unfortunately, some people actually have a disease that makes it unbelievably hard to stop using substances. Kind of like eating a Godiva chocolate bar. Some people just can't put it down; they may really want to, but they can't. That may be why most drugs are illegal in the US (I mean, chocolate can lead to obesity, which leads to many health problems, but I don't think you can overdose on it) But just because people don't heed the warnings doesn't mean they should be shunned from society. They need to impose a "3 strikes you're out" law. If you can't find out for yourself how powerfully horrible some of the drugs are on 2 different occasions, you probably need to be thrown in a locked, constantly supervised rehab clinic. But no one should be punished for making bad decisions that don't effect others. It's your one and only life (well, known to man), and you should be able to lead it the way you want.

Everyone deserves a second chance or at least a first chance at life. Giving an addict a job, may in the long run help them become clean. They could become very proud at their work performances that they might focus more time on positives, and less time on negatives. In a job environment, they learn about how important they are as a team member. They re-gain some of the emotions that they never got to feel that turned them into a life of dope. They learn basic skills, confidence, teamwork, friendships, beliefs, and community. If they mess up at work, they can learn from the painful feeling and try to head into recovery!

yeah we should give them opportunities. They are drug addicts because they took a wrong turn in life. and how many of us can say we havent taken a wrong turn at some stage in life.
I think these people have highly addictive personalities so they are suited to jobs which can be addictive... like sales. where you get a rush from every big contract you sign.
Drug addicts have potential to become quite succesfull people.
but the most important thing is that they have to be wanting to change their lifestyle .

it is good to give them opportunities, but these opportunities must be controlled...drug addicts have cravings, and if you give them too much freedom, they may relapse (go back on the drug)...you have to give them a distraction as well as empower them with a sense of a being greater than themselves (GOD). The Alcoholic's Anonymous's 12 Step Program works well with Drug addicts too. I hope this helps. Do a google search for alcoholics anonymous to learn about the 12 step program. A Catholic Priest may also know about the 12 step program.

Drug addiction is a bad sickness. It destroys families and lives. Drug addicts need options, and ways to get over their sickness. They should not be extended any opportunities until they have overcome that addiction. My brother has a drug problem and I have learned that as smart as he is, he will do anything for the next fix. If you give them opportunities before the have overcoming their addiction, you are only feeding their problem.

What sort of opportunities? Opportunities to try more and better drugs? To stop taking them? To give them a life after recovery? Come up with a perspective to start from, ask some questions (how, what, where, why, when) find some interesting/unusual examples online, come up with a summary and you're done!
I even made it sound easy, which it probably won't be lol!

most drug addicts hurt only themselves, but there are ones that hurt others..these are the ones with families and friends that care about them.
alot of these addicts are already down on life and can't be restored. it's tough because drugs will kill you.
9 out of 10 people on drugs DIE.
better not do drugs in the first place.
don't even try it..don't even start smoking.
cigarettes are a drug.

Of course everybody deserves a second chance.Keeping them in the rehab. centres and counselling them will give them a chance to lead a proper life as well.They needed us to give them some moral support that these drug addicts can reform and become a better person as well.So why not?

Their need to be safe guards in our society for these people. if we do not, the decay of our society will be in the growing problem of addicts. It is always easier to start with a program for people than to try and create one for a problem. consider this for a topic. "Pro-active Drug Therapy"....I am copyrighting this so never mind!!!
