Is the Bible is the biggest load of garbage and codswallop ever written by man? I’m sure it will go down in history as the greatest load of gobbledygook ever to inflict such traumatic mental and physical damage on humanity.

When people quote from the Bible:

Mathew 5:29-30 God encouraged self-mutilation.
Isaiah 13:15-18 God allowed women raped and children slaughtered.
Genesis 6:11-17 and 7:11-24 God the mass murderer.

Religious people spew the same old garbage. “That was the old Bible, we’ve changed the meaning, we’ve changed the context, it’s out of context.” The Bible is full of evil atrocities which religious people continually cover up. This is such a shameful disgrace in a civilised world.

If religious cults can’t apply commonsense and logic to develop a simple moral code to live by, then why not strip out of the Bible, evil, murders, rapes, abuse, and all traumatic references. At least they may end up with a decent moral code to follow, and not scare children.

The bible is also good for lining bird cages. But yeah, people just pick out the good parts of the bible and disregard all the bad advice it gives.

What about the ten commandments?

DID you ever entertain the idea that God, when he created all of this,,he meant well,
but mans nature is to always want "more" AND SIDESTEP THE RULES,
As children, the parents watch over us, and know what is safe, and sensible, (most of the time).. AND yet, our children get hurt, do things on their own anyway,,
we can't always protect them.. that does not mean it was meant to punish, yet is it not punishment if you put your hand in fire and get burned?

Well, anyway, the bible says many things, and unfortunately since it was written by man,, "man" WHO IS SINNER, AND A LIAR,, THIS DOES complicate this,
The scriptures written and passed down, from one man to another, i am sure that so much was altered for the purpose of llthe "relligion" AT THAT TIME, It is hardlly fair,,
I believe in God, and in Jesus Christ, and i want to , and i feel safe, and like i have something to look forward to,
and if i am wrong, i still used my spirit and soul for the purpose of something that i felt was the greatest love of all "BEING WITH THE SPIRIT, OR ENERGY, OR SOURCE THAT INVENTED ME" i am stumbling along, and spiritually have been a "flunkie " AND DONE SOME UNSPEAKABLE THINGS IN MY LIFE, MOST , NO ALL I AM SORRY FOR, AND REGRET THIS, especially if i hurt people,,
I can't change the past, but i have learned from it, and i choose to be a follower of the Man called Jesus, because he does sound nicer than GOD DID IN THE OLD TESTAMENT,,SO, i am going to hold on to the belief that i will be forgiven, and if i am good, and strive to be good, eventually i will get it right, and my soul will be cleansed, and i can be a part of "the big picture"

As i say this, i realize that any Christian reading me words right now will be shocked, as i seemed to be Christian,, and then, i suddenly made an ammendment,,
which is more on the metaphysical ideals, so i am both,
meaning,,that with my free will, and my search for certain truths, i will take the importand lessons, from the bible, and ask "the source" GOD, OR THE ENERGY, TO LIGHT UP THE WAY, AND I WILL GO THERE, I DO NOT TRUST MAN (WHO WROTE THE BIBLE) because man lies,, MAN IS THE LIAR,, AND I AM NOT GOING TO USE THE BAD GUYS AS AN EXCUSE TO DO EVIL, OR TO LIGHTEN UP, I WILL SAY, TO BE SELF SERVING,,
NOW WITH WHAT I SAY RIGHT NOW,
TOMORROW MAY CHANGE, IF I AM CONVINCED OF A NEW ANSWER,

YOU ARE CORRECT IN YOUR TRANSLATION OF SOME OF THE ATROCITIES, THAT RELIGIOUS PEOPLE COVER UP,, EVEN TODAY, LOOK AT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH,
UNDER THE HOLY ROBES, THE PERVERTS CONTAMINATE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL OF SOULS LTHE CHILDREN, AND HIDE THE EVIDENCE,,
YET NOT ALL THE PRIESTS ARE EVIL,,
SO THE GOOD ONES ARE STILL GOOD,AND HOLD TIGHT TO THEIR BELIEFS,
COMMONSENSE AND LOGIC THOUGH , DO NOT HAVE TO EXIST WITH GOD,, BECAUSE THIS SOURCE OR ENERGY, IS A MYSTERY, AND WE HUMANS, CAN NOT EVER HARNESS THAT POWER, OR RECREATE GOD,, THIS IS MY BELIEF,

THE LAST COMMENT I WANT TO SAY, IS I HAVE MET AND KNOWN MORE CHRISTIANS, THAT WERE BEAUTIFUL LOVING SINCERE SOULS, AND THEY DO GOOD DEEDS, AND SOME OF THEM HAVE A GLOW,,
AND THOSE CHRISTIANS MAY BELIEVE EVERY WORD FROM THE BIBLE AND THEN THEIR INTERPRETATION IS PROBABLY DIFFERENT FROM THE CHRISTIANS TWO BLOCKS AWAY,, SO WHAT THEN?
I do not think the bible is trash, or you should say this,
i think that if you disagree, then ok but for the Christians that use this as a source to live by and to do good, and to seek the kindom of "HEAVEN" and they are at peace with this, then don't tear it down, unless you have an alternative that will give them hope,
and in the big picture, there is no guarantees, right?
one day at a time,
The most importand thing is how we choose to live our lives, and what we take with us at death, is only our accomplishments, and a personality.. that is unique and the unsolved mystery.

Yes, it could be, as for the most part Christ came for those of us who find ourselves at the bottom of the dump - heed dumpfinds - and I'm glad he gave his Word for us to learn and grow by - and if you bothered to take the 66 books of the Bible and look at them as a whole instead of piece here and piece there - then you would find that each incident was the direct result of either obedience or disobedience to God in the Old Testament and in the New Testament we have the fulfillment of the Old Testament and we do have very decent moral codes to live by, and they don't scare children, they bring them to an understanding of family, of how to respect themselves and others, of an understanding of who Jesus Christ is and why He did what he did, and if you're honest with your children you don't omit the few verses following John 3:16 that teaches that we're each born into a condition that's leading us to hell, and therefore when the conviction of the Holy Spirit falls upon we must choose. But, we keep reading to them and teach them how to love, how to minister to the needs of others, how to be apart of a church. So, I think you're whole notion of is the Bible but litter for the bin is a fair question and will offend many, but as a Jesus-believing Christian, I am not in the least offended, because had someone not thrown their Bible in the dumps that I might find it and read it and learn of the love of my Savior - I would be headed for hell still and I praise God that he's willing to take the worst of the worst and give us life eternal because we repent - turn away from our wickedness, our false ideologies and give our hearts and souls completely to Him and follow him in full persuasion of who He is and what he has done that none can sway us a wind that blows through. So, if you reject Jesus when the Holy Spirit calls on you, go ahead and throw your Bible away, someone like me will pick it up and be glad to have it - it may just save their soul from hell.

Hello again, Brenda.

Here's what you do, stay away from the Bible until there is an adult in the room that can explain it to you. Stay out of the Religion and Spiritual category until you get some religion, then some real religion questions...ok dear?

When God preached this:
Matthew 5:29 If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
He means that it would be better to gouge your eye out than to live with a lustful eye. He also meant that is is better to lose the sinful body part than to go to hell for the sins that the body part caused. It is a tough love way to say, "do not sin in lust".

God doesn't let evil things happen, Satan does. God is here for us when we call to him and ask for forgiveness. You may ask Him now to see if He will touch your heart....I wish you peace.

Well you know what they say, One mans trash is another mans treasure.
To some the book is everything.
To some the book is nothing.
Let them have their everything. Because when we all die we will have nothing. Their is no palace in the heavens. There are no streets paved with gold and no one is going to live forever in a new body. They just "believe" that is going to happen but we know that by "thinking" we are more knowledgeable.
Each group knows this or that is going to happen. Big deal, what they don't understand is that we will "know" nothing. So yes you can live a good moral life without the bible, they just don't know how to do it without the "instruction book". Me I can do most anything without the instruction book.

My, my, my, so much hate and anger. It must be eating you up inside to walk through life with so much bitterness and anger towards others. I feel sad for you. Have you considered getting some counseling? Apparently, you have had some traumatic experiences that caused you to sour on the inside. I could easily refute your arguments, but that would be of no help to you, only fan the flames of indignation within you. Please seek help before all this bitterness and anger destroys you.

You have a point, but on the other hand, you really can't expect people to defend the old testament if they don't hold to it. Just because some Christians were savages at some point in history doesn't mean all of them are.

Actually, you are a shameful disgrace and your mind is a sewer. You may recognize a word but you cannot string them together and understand what you are reading ( no comprehension skills whatsoever).

Read the bible like literature; accept the good points it makes, ignore the bad ones. Every book has its praises and faults. Dont reject it entirely because of a few points nor accept it because it told you so; think it yourself.

im not christian either.

I think the bible is good for inspirational purposes. And some things that it teaches are good, but I don't think it is right to scare people into thinking if they don't do this they are going to go to hell. If god is all loving, he wouldn't do that to people!!! Duhh!!!
