Can divine logic prove that green is not green? That A is not equal to A? That this statement is false?

Debra: thank you for your serious response, but I'm afraid you confused the logic. If A is not equal to A because they're different problems, well, it's not A = A because that's one problem. You can't use the same name to describe two different objects within any given set of scenarios. That being said, it's not that GREEN isn't green, it's that the object that appears green isn't green. In short, we were wrong to call that object green in the first place.

I R R, what you did with the bat arguement wasn't logically proving something, it was using ambiguous logic. The problem is that people make foibles of logic all the time: A = A. But A can only refer to one very specific object. B can also equal A, but then B and A are just the same object.

I think the importance of this is learning to point out where people make leaps of bad logic due to the ambiguities of communication. Bat the animal vs baseball bat for instance: logically, they're two different things, but we have the same word. But the word isn't the logical "Name" it's the communicative name. We can't give the same name to two different things within a given scenario.

I can prove that green may not be green. If you place a lot on tiny yellow and blue dots next to each other they will appear green. It is an illusion a trick of your eyes. A can be not equal to A when used in different math problems. Even my 11 year old can answer those questions. We study formal logic. St. Aguinas style.

of course i can, but i do not know anything of this "divine logic" you speak of. green is the color that reflects off an object. if the green is reflecting off and all the other colors are absorbed, than that object is every color that is not green. if green reflects off green then green is every color that is not green if green absorbs green then it cannot be green because green reflects green and green objects reflect green light. A is not equal to A because if they were equal to each other then they would be 2A. if they are not equal to each other then you would have A and A two different, seperate instances of A that cannot combine or there would be another letter there. A+A must equal A but they do not. of couse that statement is false because green is green even if the object that is described as green is not green because green is not used to describe an object at all but is used to describe the wavelength of light that reflects off the object that is every color but green.
