I don't think you should become a boxer but my reasoning is a little different than the other answers you have gotten.

If you are "a little afraid" of what "will!!!!!" happen to your face, then you have the wrong attitude. That wrong attitude is going to get you hurt.

When you are in the ring boxing, you can't spend all your time worrying about and defending yourself is such a way that you protect your face from getting cut or your nose from getting broken. You also have to worry about taking punishment to your kidneys and ribs and abdomen. If you protect your face at the cost of these other things, you are going to get hurt in a big way. Have you ever seen how ugly cuts are that occur just above the eye? Besides that, damage to your lower body is usually worse than a few facial cuts and broken noses. In addition, body shots wear you down and cause you to lower your arms and hands. Then you have left your face open to all that damage you are so worried about. Now you've been hurt in both places.

There are also occasions that call for taking punches especially to the face inorder to get in punches of your own. That's what you do when the other fighter is faster than you are but you punch harder. You take punishment inorder to get close and give out your own punishment.

Forget boxing and take up some lady like sport like field hockey where you can attack other women with sticks. Now there's a non-violent sport!!!! Just kidding about lady like sports and field hockey. I'm not kidding about boxing. You have the wrong attitude - forget it.

Pretty? What does that have to do with anything? If your that vain then boxing isn't for you. Female fighters get a bad rap because they are held at a different level of scrutiny than men. My old trainer Bucky Moreno trained some beautiful girls I asked him once "Why girls?" he said "Why not?" The girls he trained were tough "granted tough ain't enough" but they were well schooled in their craft, they could bob and weave throw straight punches (Not cat paw) they could really fight and not one time did I ever hear one of them talk about theor looks. At one time he worked with or had something to do with a boxer by the name of Jimi Chartrand, look her up on yahoo or googel she's great looking and she can fight but thay doesn't take away from her hooks to the body and I doubt if she ever worried about her face in the ring.

I STRONGLY recommend that you watch 'Million Dollar Baby'

This movie will probably influence you a lot.

Don't make a decision without watching the movie

(spoiler alert)
She is a pretty lady who excels at boxing, knocks out her opponents and all that. But at the end of the movie she gets 'knocked out'... for GOOD.

So I would advise you not to get into it. Not that you're a lady and that it's not for ladies... I'm not saying that at all. If a girl wants to box, go right on ahead. But it's a dangerous sport and the risk is high that you will screw up that pretty face of yours :)
