A cortisone injection is a shot into a specific painful area with an anti-imflammatory medication. Cortisone decreases the inflammation so that the pain will be resolved. There are many ways to use cortisone, ie spinal epidurals for back and associated pains, intramuscularly or subdermally for allergic reactions such as hives. If the dr. is wanting to put it in your rotator cuff, is this a quick, temporary fix? Or do you really need restorative surgery?
