Why don't you hear of people getting exorcist in todays time? I've never known anyone to be inhabited by a demon - can that really happen to someone? If it can - how does it happen?
They say the movie The Exorcist was based on a true story..but it was a young boy not a girl.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose was based on a true story, as it says at the beginning of the movie. And yes, it really was a girl. And my ex-girlfriend was possessed for a few minutes when she was using a ouija board. I wasn't there, so I don't know how it happened.

I don't think demon possesion is exactly on the mark,it's more like spirit attack,Paul said demons are a nonexistent thing, maybe like a false thought, and it is not easy to tell if someone is being attacked or if it's medical since you can't see the attacking spirit,it takes a spiritually gifted person to know and even then nobody can see his gifts. So it's it's a real touchy situation.

There have been many exorcisms down through the ages.
Stay away from that stuff unless you are fully grounded in
the word. And if you're not sure or you need to ask questions
then you are not grounded in the Word.

Yes, that can happen. There is more in this world than us mere mortals.
It was based on a true story. And frightened the crap out of me.

According to the Catholic church documents, possesion is very rare in countries that are monotheistic and/or atheist. They are far more common where pagans reside. Apparently this makes them able to be more dominant. More reports of possesion come from African and undeveloped nations.

Getting baptised and confirmed, and taking an oath (and believing in it) to resist the devil should help.

And always be in a state of grace with God.
