This is an honest question. I hear so many people against and for prayer in school and other such notions. What would your idea of a perfect way for things to go involving religion and school? If you agree with religion in school would it be all religions, as in teachers teaching passages from all religions; the bible, the witches bible, the quran, ect..... If you are against it what would be your solution? No mention of religion of any kind? Please share your opinion and be polite so we may learn from each other.

I do not believe there are many religions that teach hate or harm. The two you named are among the most peaceful religions on the planet. Being a wiccan (aka witch) our primary code is to harm none and i know that the majority of people who follow islam are peaceful. But good points. Thank you all for your opinions

If you are to include religion in public school then you must include them all for it to truly be a study for the public. I think it would be best if it was left out unfortunately, for I feel that there is no way to ensure that all the faiths would be covered fairly and equally, and this would only do a disservice to the children who should be encourage to learn and chose on their own so they can truly chose that which fits them best.

i would say that the only fair thing to do would be to take a survey of the religions each student in the classroom belongs to, and take an appropriate morning prayer from each religion to say in the mornings, and recite them all. chances are there will probably be no more than three or four different prayers which should not take more than five minutes. rotate the order of them being said to make sure none is given preference. if you disagree with hearing the prayer of another religion, which is just lame, you are free to step out.

that way not only is religion included, but it also gives a message of religious tolerance and allows every student to learn about other religions

If your speaking of public school then I would say I'm against it. What's the purpose of teaching religion, any religion, in a public school? Religion is a very personal relationship between an individual and his/her creator and as such should be taught and practiced at home and Churches. Since our society is so diverse, teaching religion in public school is bound to exclude someone and schools should not exclude any of it's members. My perfect way is to not teach religion in a public school and stick to basic subjects (math, science, history, language, etc...). Morality starts at home and it can not be outsourced to an institution.

A moment of silent meditations should be acceptable. Because people could think whatever & those who want to pray for the day at school would have the liberty to do so.

The separation of church & states simply means that state or government funds could be provided for all or none on the topic of religion. So a class in religion should include all, including Christianity or none at all.

In the 1st amendment it allows for peaceful assembly. So if a religion teaches hate or incites violence, it should not be allowed. I don't think witches spells could be included. Or Islamic hatred of Israel & the west. That part of their religion. Because it threatens others.

Also should be considered liberty & justice for all. Liberty isn't liberty if it takes away someone elses liberty. There is no justice in that.

There is no law against love, joy, peace, patience, etc.... Or at least there shouldn't be.

I think actually students should be able to study as many religions as possible. I believe people as a whole can decide what is good and what is not suitable to them. If we could take everything that is good from every religion and reject that which we cannot accept we could come to a consenus a universal yet individual truth that would be acceptable to all.

i think students should be able to practice any religion they want to. it's part of their life. everyone says they shouldn't because it would offend someone else. but i honestly think, it wouldn't offend people. i mean most students aren't very relgious anyway. so it shouldn't be based on one religion (major major arguments would start), but all of them. to help the government understand, get people to sign a petition or write a letter. or if they feel strongly enough, students can protest in school. sorry if i misspelled, i'm typing in the dark lol. good question and God bless, Val

If you're talking about public schools, they should be Atheistic. Religion should have no part of it unless taken as an elective class.
