Lift weights! If you are going to play any type of football you'll want muscle tone to help keep your inards safe from all the ruff housing on the field. If you do the weight lifting properly you will gain weight and slim your body at the same time. Muscle weighs more than fat so don't freak if your weight is going up. You can get the book "weight lifting for dummies" and it can help you learn about reps, how to lift weights properly, proper diet, and lots of other little tid bits. It's really good! I also suggest getting into a health club if your parents will go with you and letting someone actually physically teach you the proper use of weights. You don't want to hurt yourself and cause yourself to not be able to play any sports.

Do both. You don't have to lose weight before you start lifting weights; actually, lifting weights and building muscle will help you lose weight because muscle uses calories. Make sure you eat right and, if possible, ask a doctor about a diet program that would be good for you. My little brother is 18 and he is almost your exact height and weight. I would say, most quarter backs are the smaller and faster type. If you're a fast runner than that's a great position for you. Otherwise, you might want to try for another position. Just keep up the cardio and weight lift also. Don't do it on the same day-or-if you do-do weights first one day and then cardio and switch it the next day. Do different kinds of cardio too. Like swimming, running, biking, ect. You could even start a martial arts class if you enjoy that type of thing. Whatever you do, stick with it. And good luck.

Cardio and weight lifting. Doing both will either increase or decrease your weight. Regardless, you're gonna need cardio training for endurance and well.. all football players need some muscle. Good luck!

You can do both. Gaining muscle makes you burn more calories. I recall when I first began lifting barbells at age 15. In a month or so, I gained 15 lbs. while trimming my waist 2" and gaining an inch on each arm. At age 15, I weighed 115 lbs. Now, I weigh 285 lbs. In college, I was good at offensive center or whatever one calls it. I don't care about names for positions. I just smashed the quarterback. I scored many touchbacks. No one or two men could prevent my getting to the quarterback.

depends on your size if your significantly overweight loose it first if your just slightly overweight then use weights. You will loose some weight by lifting but if your needing to loose quite a bit then you will turn some of the fat into muscle and since muscle weighsmore than fat you can actually be doing more harm to your body than good..........
