I would think my child.I love my mother to deat. But she is getting older and I have been able to come to terms with the fact that she probably won't live another 20 yrs.And I know I might be upset but I would carry her with me and the lessons and the time we spent together. But my children are a completely different story. If I lost any of my children,I don't know how I would carry on.The sadness would be too deep.It would probably kill me.Literally.

If you have watched the movie "The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers", a prince there died and it had cost the father so much pain to bury his son. Personally, I think the death of your child will be much more painful because you've nurtured and took care of this being, it came from your flesh and blood and raising it is a very difficult thing. Specially for Moms! They went through a tough ordeal with giving birth and making sure you are doing good, teaching you whatever lessons she can so as to help you prepare for the child's own life ahead. Then imagine that after all you've done for him/her, he/she will die. A death of a parent will also be hard to bear, but that's how life intended it to happen. The natural way of life is for older people to die first, and the younger ones carry on.

I would say the death of a child would be worse. Almost everyone will have to deal with the death of their parents at some point.
I don't have kids, and I have lost a parent, it was bad, but I would still say having a child die would be worse.

I lost my mother age the age of 7, I think it depends on the support you receive. My grandmother was a supportive, loving friend amongst the alcholoism I endured with my Grandfather. I have two children (18 and 10) and cannot imagine the loss I would feel. But my guess is, I would miss my mother most.
