I sure hope you are a second grade student or not an American!
Our National flag came from alot of blood shed on the battle ground just so you could make a stupid remark like this one and not get shot for it or your parents property taken away for having such a stupid kid like you!
If you are an American and over the age of 9 Read a history book about our civil war.
MY National Flag stands for the United States of America meaning we stand together and never run.

There isn't really any significance to me, I do believe it was more important for ealier times for identification, flags are now used to show support for you country its all just a matter pride.
