I'm not 100 pounds overweight yet, I'm not addicted to 10 different prescription drugs yet, I haven't totally started blaming others for my own problems yet, I haven't choosen a political party to follow blindly yet, I haven't become arrogant to the outside world yet, I haven't gotten a sense of superiority yet, but when I do i'll be a totally assimilated American.

Wow - you're not that far behind. I'm ten pounds underweight because the last prescription I got put on made me sick as a dog so I don't take any meds any more except for my athsma inhaler, which isn't a drug, it's a breathing aid. I am neither democrat nor republican. I only have a sense of superiority at work where I am a supervisor so I earned the right to tell people what to do and am required to do so. I am not arrogant to the outside world, but I am not blind to it either.
And I've lived here my entire life.

Not all are like that. You just haven't assimilated in finding the right people yet. The bad stands out in the crowd, but if you look a little harder,you will be pleasantly surprised.

Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
If not you we will get your children. They will be heavier and taller than you. Their children won't even understand your native language or be able to find your native land on a map of the world.
They'll call you grandpa something or other and won't even be able to properly pronouce your name.
My poor grandma Luggie most people called her, but her real name was Lugardita, spoke to me in Spanish on her death bed. I could just understand enough to know that she had me confused with someone else. I can't imagine living my homeland, most people can't be driven from the land of their birth by force. I guess it takes a lot of guts to pick up and leave.
I'll never know. I plan on living and dying within 30 miles of my place of birth.

Seems to me your fine the way you are. Being true to yourself and being proud of who you are was what I was taught an American was. And I've always been an American.
