Amazingly enough, canines lose weight the exact same ways the humans do... diet and exercise. Feed him a high quality food and feed him less or switch him to a low calorie food. Low-end foods are a leading contributor to overweight dogs... essentially because they are mostly junk filler and your dog has to eat a lot to get the appropriate nutrition. A good way to judge the quality of dog food is this; if it's sold at your local grocery store, don't buy it (purina one might be the only exception, it's a reasonable dog food, but far from a great food... Iams is a bad food for many reasons, especially if you want your dog to lose weight) The second part is exercise... start slowly if you're not doing daily walks right now. Around the block for a few days and grow it into 2-3 15-20 minute walks daily at a reasonable pace (not fast for a pug, don't jog with him...) If eating less of a high quality food and taking 3 walks a day doesn't make your pug lose weight you need to see your vet as it might be a thryroid or other physiological problem.

I have been trying to do that for years! I have 2 pugs and then are always on a roller coaster with their weight. What we have found to work is feeding them Nutro dog food - weight management kind and taking them for more walks. If your pug usually has soft food, try to limit it to one day a week. We usually give them soft food or frosty paws (ice cream for dogs found in the frozen section at the grocery store) on Sundays.

Yeah, Don't feed him as much!!!!! Also, take him on LONG walks every single day. I have always had pugs. They do NOT feel "full". Ever. You have to limit their food AND make them exercise as well.

hi, i in my opinion have no theory what`s taking place on your canines, yet what i might recommend is contacting your community vet and telling him each and every thing that's taking place on your pug. touch your vet as quickly as feasible, via fact of each and every of the flaws that are taking place on your pug i think of the concern would desire to be extreme. touch YOUR community VET as quickly as feasible AND ASK HIM WHAT TO DO!

Sounds like same theme.
Less food that's more filling.
More exercise.
Some breeds are just over-eaters and you have to cut the calories down.

Your vet's office will have a 'diet' dog food. My office carries purina OM. My lab lost 40lbs in 6 months. I swear by the stuff.
