My daughter is ten months old and I believe she has a yeast infection. I called her ped. But they have not returned my phone calls. Something like monistat. I always heard you get yeast infections from sex. But I guess not. Could I try some or should I wait to hear from ped.

My Dr prescribed a prescription strength monistat for my child when he had a rash that hung around for months...turned out to be an allergic reaction to wipes (we had used them for almost 2 years w/o problems prior to).

My oldest had yeast infections occasionally (both boys) it is common in kid that wear diapers.

I'd hold off on using your cream unless you talk to a Dr or Pharmacist. Try using hydrocortizone cream mixed it with diaper rash cream.

Someone told me to try lotrimin but I asked my Dr first and she told that it was too strong to use in the diaper region on kids and recommended the hydrocortizone.

Good luck and if you can't get the Dr then call the pharmacy before you put it on your baby just to be safe!

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

You may have had an allergic reaction to the medication. I would stop it and see if the swelling goes away. You can tell your doctor. The allergy may possibly be to the vehicle the medication is in (the ointment or cream). Also if you are using any wipes down there that is a common cause of a contact allergy. I would stop applying everything and ask your doctor for a true patch test. It will check for common contact allergies. Your doctor can treat you with an oral medication if your yeast infection is still giving you problems.

Yes, When my niece had a yeast infection the doctor prescribed Monistat. It is not that uncommon with diaper rash and food issues. Still, it is always good to check with the doctor, for peace of mind if nothing else. PS the yeast infection looked like little white pimples on the bottom, rather than traditional diaper rash. PPS only use externally!

Yeast infections aren't caused by sex, but it sure does aggravate it! It's just an overgrowth of normal, healthy bacteria. In baby girls it's pretty common because of wetness trapped around the area provides ample opportunity for it to grow. Wait till the ped calls back- it's probably bothering you more than it is her, and it's nothing serious. : )

No, do not give her monistat. She will need medication if she has a yeast infection, but only a doctor can determine that. And you do not get yeast infections from sex.

I don't think a phone call to her pediatrician is sufficient. Make your daughter and appointment and take the baby in to see a medical professional.

Please, do not use a yeast infection cream on an infant.

Makes me wonder whether they should put all OTC medications behind the counter....
