What services do you get when you go to a salon/spa? How much do you normally pay? What makes you return to a salon? If you purchase professional products(shampoos, gels, etc) what brands do you chose? I am asking these questions because I am starting a salon and I need all the help I can get from other parts of the world and US. Thank you in advance for your help.

I work in a salon and have done so for 16 yrs- If you want some info you can email me about our services and prices. There are way too many to list here. I can also tell you the products we sell in the salon and all too.

As for why people go back to a certain salon repeatedly...that has many factors. The cleanliness, the decor, the prices, the great cuts/colors/ perms/mani's/ pedi's a person get at their *fave* salon. But honestly alot has to do with the personality of the stylist or nail tech.

good luck opening your salon- where are you opening your salon at? just out of curiosity

when i go to a salon, i get a haircut and blowout. i only get my hair cut 1-2 times a year, but if i need an updo for a special occasion, i'll come in again. usually i pay around $45 for a cut and $15 for a blowout. updos cost around $50 or so.

when i go to a salon, i get facials, massages and mani/pedis. facials and massages run me about $95 each and a manicure is around $20 and a pedi is around $35.

what keeps me coming back is a friendly, professional staff. i also have to like the physical appearance of the place. the places i've gone to have a very modern and impressive layout. the staff usually wear black every day. they always remember my name and i don't have to wait if i have an appt. also, they don't push me to buy products.

good luck.

I used to work at a Salon/Spa as an assitant.
I usually did the usual haircut and color and I like to get my eyebrows waxed as well as get my nails done.
Salon/Spa's are usually pretty expensive, but I s'pose it depends on wear you plan on opening one and what the income is for most people in that area. The one I worked at costed $60 for a regular haircut!

You should probably consider permanent straightening products and perm stuff as well. Those are reasonably popular.

I like Bumble & Bumble products...they seemed to sell pretty well. L'Oreal as well...

I'll return to a salon if the quality of the service is good as well as the hospitality of everyone that works there.
