Last year I was in a bad car accident and was on medicaid to pay for my doctor bills. I need to have reconstructive surgery that I've had to wait a year for to let my body heal. Now I'm no longer eligable for medicaid because I'm over 20 years old, don't have any dependants, and I'm not pregnant. And I don't think regular health insurance would cover these surgeries because these are "pre-existing conditions". Are there any other ways or programs that I could get medical coverage for to have these surgeries? Serious responses only please....please don't be a smarta**, I'm being serious; not looking for a laugh.

I'm guessing your auto insurance, or the insurance of the other party involved in the accident, doesn't cover your medical expenses? You should definitely look into that if you haven't already. If not I don't think you're going to be able to get health insurance to cover this, because it is a pre-existing condition, as you say. But I'm not in insurance, so ask an insurance broker or other qualified professional; don't take my word for it!

Is there any way you can finance this through the hospital? Have you asked? Maybe they can accept some kind of payment plan or possibly refer you to someone who can finance the operations. Or possibly a church group or other group you may be involved with can help?

The only other thing I can think of is -- and this sounds weird I know -- would be to solicit money on the internet. You can use Amazon Honor System (http://zme.amazon.com/exec/varzea/subst/fx/help/payor-faq.html) or Paypal. You need to check the terms and conditions, but you might be able to put it up on your Yahoo 360 page, assuming Yahoo allows that. Or maybe you can create a separate page and link to it from Yahoo 360.

Well, those are all the ideas I have for you. I sincerely wish you the best in your recovery.

Well, if they were due the car accident, I would have gone after the insurance company. That is unless the responsible didn't have insurance which is a common problem where I live. My husband was in an accident last year, a hit and try to run, driver was uninsured then tried to say the car was stolen. I would contact medicaid and see if they would cover it anyway being that it was due to this accident and you had to wait for the surgery. Good Luck

Not all insurance policies have pre-existing condition clauses...most just have limits for a predetermined amount of time. For instance, they may not cover any procedures related to the accident for a period of 1 year...it all depends on your policy.

Cosmetic Surgery and Reconstructive surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges cosmetic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your cosmetic surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

my cousin got her breast reduction/liposculpture/buttoc... lift surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare.she is more than very happy with the results.she just paid 30% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.i personally have seen the wondeful results and am particularly impressed with the kind of quality care she got from this company.
