It is against the law in my state for anyone but a peace officer to arrest someone and place them in handcuffs. A security guard can detain and restrain, but this sounds like something else. If a subject is restrained either in soft 4 point restraints, or chemically restrained in a medical setting, then there has to be a Doctor's order. No doctor can order a patient placed in handcuffs. Handcuffs are designed to be used by law enforcement officers to restrain a subject until they can be safely placed in a secure setting, and not any other reason.

It is illegal, and very dangerous as the person who is withdrawing could get seriously ill or even die.It is not ok to do this to anyone.
If this person is addicted to something it has to monitored by a doctor to bring them down off of this drug. Please don't try this yourself as you dont' know what to expect.

I think it is illegal unless your in a rehabilitation center but they wouldnt hand cuff you to nothing they would just lock you in a room and as well give you medication to help with the withdrawl symptoms, after the usual 3 day detoxification though.

Although the intent is decent, the act would be forcible confinement and would be a criminal offence.

Even though they want to go out and get their dope, we can't remove their right to come and go as they please, except by court order or a physicians direction.

Yes, to keep them from harming themselves or others. Some (most) places use humane restraints to accomplish this.

You could get away with it if your a doctor or cop.
you CAN'T get away with it if your just someones friend.
