My husband runs heavy equipment on a mine-site and he takes a chicken-salad sandwich ( stay away from too much tuna; the mercury is bad for you ), "every" night. Now, it stays a good 75-80 degrees here during the night. He doesn't take a "cooler" per say, just a regular lunch bucket and I pack it in aluminum foil. He doesn't like baggies, too much trouble he says. His lunch has usually been sitting anywhere from 8 1/2 to 9 1/2 hours before being eaten. He also likes heavy mayo. Hope this helps.

2 hours max. You have to assume that the things that went into the sandwich sat on a loading dock for about 2 hours and the max time the danger zone is 4. get a cooler from wal-mart they are only about $10.

I would give it 20 minutes or less. Mayo is the worst thing to put in a sandwich in the heat.

Not more than a couple hours at best.
Put some ice in two baggies, place one under the sandwich and one on top, and it will last until lunch.

If you plan on doing this experiment I suggest that you have a back-up sandwich to eat! The first sandwich will go bad in a matter of minutes, 30 to be exact!

I always go by this "If you have to ask, throw it in the trash." Never second guess that kind of stuff. It took me several years before I could even look at cole slaw again. Ohhhhhhh the memory of it.
